Let’s dive into what this month’s Amazing Clubs delivery has brewing…

This month’s Amazing Clubs delivery arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with an insert that kept the precious cargo in place. Because I was at work when Canada Post tried to deliver, I had to pick this box up from the post office and show ID as they required a signature from someone 18+. I received 12 cans of beer with 10 of the 12 being the larger 473 ml size!

Each monthly delivery includes their informative beer lover’s newsletter, “The Frosted Mug”, featuring brewmaster profiles, tasting notes, histories of the featured breweries, detailed beer specifications, and more!

It looks like this month’s Amazing Clubs delivery contains beers from three featured Canadian breweries! Collingwood Brewery, Block Three Brewing Co. and Hometown Brew Co. These breweries are all located in Ontario, which is exciting as they are all new to me. The craft beer scene in Western Canada is HUGE and if you live here, you probably adore craft beer! In Edmonton alone, we have 20 craft breweries, most of which have popped up in only the last few years!

Let’s explore our first featured brewery:

Collingwood Brewery – Collingwood, Ontario

“In 2014, the Collingwood Brewery was the first craft brewery to open its doors in Collingwood. Chris Freeman, head brewer and cofounder, focuses on classic brewing traditions and classic styles of beer.”

Oktoberfestbier (5.8%) Collingwood Brewery (2 Cans)

“A German-style Marzen brewed with traditional German malt & noble hops. Malt forward, sweet and delicious.”

This beer was so delightful to drink! Cloudy, slightly sweet and only a mild bitterness. I really enjoyed it!

Charm & Wit (4.0%) Collingwood Brewery (2 Cans)

“A Belgian style witbier brewed with chamomile, lemon & orange peel, coriander and German noble hops.”

This is a beautiful, golden beer with aromas of lemon honey and wildflower. It was so easy to drink and enjoy!

Block Three Brewing Co. – St. Jacobs, Ontario

“Block Three Brewing was started in 2013 by four friends. Since that time they have hired Kevin Freer as their head brewer and focused on artisanal small-batch beers that showcase the craftsmanship of their brewers. They strive to make interesting and unique beer that you can be proud to share with others…”

Noon on a Weekday (5.0%) Block Three Brewing Co. (2 Cans)

“This American pale ale has a big punch of lemon and orange in the aroma and low bitterness. It is perfect for a weekday pint.”

I would highly recommend this easy-drinking, citrusy American pale ale. It was cloudy, golden and went down quickly (and I might have had both after school last week on a weekday afternoon ;))

Keep Calm & Saison (4.6%) Block Three Brewing Co. (2 Cans)

“A dry-hopped version of our flagship, a Belgian Saison dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic and Centennial hops giving it a really big grapefruit nose and mouthfeel.”

This beer was super citrusy at first sip and then finished bitter, but not too bitter. It was enjoyable once my palette got used to it and my partner enjoyed the other can of it.

Hometown Brew Co. – St. Williams, Ontario

“Hometown Brew Co was started by a family with the goal to make beer and grow hops…Their beer philosophy is simple – work hard to create shareable, unique refreshing brews that find a balance between drinkability and flavour.”

Pedal Pilsner (5.0%) Hometown Brew Co. (2 Cans)

“Using Pilsner and Vienna Malts directly from Germany combined with our locally sourced Saaz Hops, results in a sessionable beer with earthy, herbal, and floral notes plus a sharp and clean finish.”

This gold, semi-hazy beer was enjoyable. It had a strong earthy scent and a crisp finish.

Super Blueberry (5.0%) Hometown Brew Co.

“This is a reimagining of Hometown’s first beer. The Blueberry Saison has a light spice character, light malt sweetness, crisp herbal hop character and high effervescence. This version has more blueberries and more Sweetness.”

This beer was right up my alley as I always ask, “What fruity beers do you serve?” It is purplish-red in colour, hazy, sweet, fruity and delicious! I am sad I did not get two of these but grateful I got to try it!

Lime Pilsner (5.0%) Hometown Brew Co.

“Hometown’s Brew master hand zested 300 limes to add to their pilsner to create this sweet and extremely refreshing take on a Lime & Lager classic.”

This beer was my favourite – it would have been amazing to drink on a hot summer day! It was very limey, but delicious nonetheless!

November Beer of the Month Club – Final Thoughts

The November Beer of the Month Club box from Amazing Clubs included 12 cans of Canadian, micro-brewed craft beer to try from three different Ontario breweries, with seven different brews. I really enjoyed all the beers I tried, but my favourites were the Super Blueberry and the Lime Pilsner. This Amazing Clubs box costs $57.95 (or less on longer subscriptions), so it works out to around $4.83 per beverage, including free shipping! If you were to buy 12 cans of craft beer on your own, you would likely be paying a lot more! If you love sampling new craft beers like I do, this subscription might be right for you. Or how about a gift for the beer aficionado person in your life this Holiday Season?

I cannot wait to see what else Amazing Clubs has to offer!
