Bibliophilic Excursions Review September 2018

Travel the world with Bibliophilic Excursions. Each month a box of goodies is cleverly curated to take subscribers on an adventure to one of the many beautiful cities or countries of the world. There are several excursion options available including the fiction and nonfiction journeys that start at $39.99 a month. Their goal is “to create an all-encompassing reading experience that awakens each of the five senses.” Think of Bibliophilic Excursions as a travel adventure in a box, where the subscriber experiences a different destination each month through the books and goodies.

Packaging:

I’m impressed that Bibliophilic Excursions has upgraded their box since July. The printed box looks professional and puts them on par with the many book subscription boxes already available. The new design includes their logo, social media accounts, and tagline: “Uniquely Curated Adventures in a Box.” I do miss the adorable map stamp on their original box design.

What Came in the California Box:

The book and goodie selections for this box were eclectic. This month I was sent a California theme box. There was something to read, something to wear, something to eat, and something to use at home. The books included were san francisco noir edited by Peter Maravelis and City of Nets by Otto Friedrich. For a split second I thought this would be the month I would finally read some non-fiction, but if I’m honest with myself, there’s no way I’m going to read a nearly 500 page non-fiction. San francisco noir, on the other hand, is an anthology of fiction, but, unfortunately, I do not enjoy short stories. I was impressed with the quality of the water bottle. This is the first time I’ve seen a book box include drinkware made of stainless steel. Other boxes use a cheaper plastic material, so that was a plus for Bibliophilic Excursions. They also included an adorable pink tote with a graphic of a bear hugging the state of California. A selection of goodies also came in the box including a chocolate dipped fortune cookie, avocado honey, a lollipop, and poppy seeds. The fortune cookie unfortunately arrived in pieces, but it was so yummy; I ate it right away. I’m a fan of honey, and I’m looking forward to trying the other goodies.

Bibliophilic Excursions Review September 2018 – Final Thoughts

This is a one of a kind book box. I recommend it to history buffs and excursionists. I would like to see some YA fiction and newer releases included in future boxes.

*Thank you Bibliophilic Excursions for sending me this box in exchange for my honest review.
