Celebrate States Review June 2021

Celebrate a new state, support small/family owned businesses from coast to coast and feel like you’ve just come back from vacation with cherished souvenirs every month with Celebrate States subscription box. Featuring 6-7 full size high quality U.S. sourced products – they kindly sent us this box for review.

Usually by this time of year I have made at least two trips to the U.S. to explore new cities and try new things that we may not have in Canada. However, with the boarder closed for well over a year it’s been particularly impossible to sample what the U.S. has to offer! The Celebrate States box is the perfect way to feel like you’ve had a vacation without leaving home.

Let’s take a look inside!

Box Insert

The Celebrate States insert reads like a New York newspaper and includes details on the companies within the subscription box. I really enjoyed reading about how these small businesses got their start – but I found the box was missing details about the products. Thankfully a quick search online provided details on how I should best enjoy some of the included items. Also inside the Celebrate States subscription box was a colored worksheet with facts and flag details as well as a small map of New York City.

The box opened to a handwritten card from Celebrate States where they mention that the June 2021 box has been curated to be a perfect Father’s Day box. I so appreciate the personal touch and it really made me excited to see what else was included within!

Outsiders Kitchen – Flavored Pretzels (Delaware County, NY)

“You’ll totally dig these sourdough pretzels, blended with our signature sugar and spices and a bonus caffeinated kick. Coffee-flavored pretzels? Trust our creative process.”

I put these pretzels out during a coffee date with a friend and it was an absolute hit. What better to go with a coffee than coffee flavored pretzels. These were sweet and salty and just the perfect afternoon snack.

Syracuse Salt Company – Flake Salt (Syracuse, NY)

“To make our new black garlic salt, we use our flagship local Salt City Flake salt, and infuse it with Korean-style fermented garlic from Piacentino Farms from Utica, NY. The result is a more pungent garlic flavor, but with a sweet balsamic-y finish. Perfect for the garlic lover, and a way to punch up anything in the kitchen.”

My husband and I bought a beautiful piece of salmon from a local fish market and seasoned the fillet with this aromatic black garlic and flake salt blend. We pan fried it in a little olive oil and my goodness – it was such an amazing flavour. I should also mention that the small spoon that came with the jar made sprinkling the seasoning very fun – I felt like a real cook!

Crown Maple Syrup – Madagascar Vanilla Infused Organic Maple Syrup (Dover Plains, NY)

“The aromatic and tantalizing floral aromas complements the graham cracker and brown butter notes of our maple syrup to present a delicate and creamy body with buttery sweet notes that builds intrigue.”

As a Canadian, I feel as though I am an expert in maple syrup. So let me tell you, this maple syrup from Crown Maple Syrup was spectacular. I drizzled a touch of the syrup over a yogurt parfait for breakfast and it was absolutely delightful. I can’t wait to try it on pancakes next!

Sallyander – Hogwash Soap (Beacon, NY)

“Every home should have our ‘Hogwash!’ hand scrub and laundry treatment.”

As a new mom you can imagine the sort of stains I often encounter in my baby’s clothes and how cleaning said clothes is ALWAYS a chore. However, this stain busting soap removed everything! You’d never even know that this particular onesie wasn’t brand new! It is heavily fragranced but it worked so well!

Color Our Town – Coloring Postcards, colored pencils and sharpener (New York, NY)

“History with an artistic flair”

Coloring a postcard during a nap time was one of the most cathartic and relaxing experiences I’ve had in a long time. I felt immersed in the history and the experience left me feeling as though I had explored the location myself! Who said coloring was for kids!

Celebrate States Review June 2021 – Final Thoughts

The June “New York” Celebrate States box contained fun items from small businesses and allowed me to feel like I had just come home from a mini vacation with a few treasured souvenirs. It was so fun to learn more about the state of New York and made me want to visit it in real life even more. I guess you could say that they put me in to a New York State of mind!
