The Curiosity Box by Vsauce is the first box of its kind that I’ve had the opportunity to review and I have to say, I was pretty thrilled about that! It’s the world’s first subscription for thinkers. Each box includes premium science toys, experiments, and collectibles designed for curious adults. The boxes are curated by popular YouTube science educator and inventor, Vsauce. He takes his out-of-the-box ideas, teachings, and inventions and packages them up into this unique subscription box – it’s truly an experience like no other.

Unboxing the Summer 2024 Curiosity Box by Vsauce

Since this was my first time receiving it, I was really interested to see what kinds of items The Curiosity Box by Vsauce would include in this box. It definitely had me on the edge of my seat! The packaging was very nicely done and the box was really heavy so I knew there had to be a lot of cool things inside.

On the top was a welcome card that shared details about the products on the back, as well as a Curiosity Box magazine. It was a fully printed, 21-page booklet full of all the instructions and helpful info we’ll need to make the most of the products featured inside.

Let’s take a closer look at what was included in the Summer 2024 Curiosity Box by Vsauce…

Shadow Alphabet Puzzle: This was SUPER cool – it’s a set of refrigerator magnets that comprises 67 shapes that form the alphabet. But it’s definitely not easy and takes some creative thinking! On the back of the package, there was a QR code that I assumed would provide some helpful tips for arranging the letters – but it brought me to a blank page. So I’m saving this one for my stepdad who loves brain teasers and puzzles.

Picture Pie: Ok, I’m actually obsessed with this invention. Gosh, people are so amazing! These discs are the result of what happens when images are deconstructed and turned into a drawing kit. You use one of the discs, place it on a piece of paper, and secure it in place with the pin provided. Making a reference mark on the top of your paper, you align the disc with each number labeled around it and draw each section of the disc. Each one will produce a new surprise picture!  This was seriously so cool – here’s a look at what we drew with one of the discs.

Knot Book & Stickers: This book will teach you how to tie over 60 different kinds of knots and even comes with a little piece of rope tucked inside. Written and Illustrated by Philippe Petit, he’s a world-renowned daredevil subject of the documentary Man on Wire. His most famous stunt was walking a tightrope between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center! This book pairs perfectly with the included knot stickers too.

Martian Soil: Whaaaaat??? You read that right. This is a sample of simulated soil designed to precisely (both chemically and geologically) replicate the surface of Mars! That’s something you won’t see every day….or likely find anywhere else!  I thought this was such a fun inclusion. You can even use this soil to try and grow a small plant or as raw materials for projects.  Neat, right?

Knot Shirt: Sporting the “amphichiral knot” – the only 15-crossing knot, this t-shirt is a cotton blend and definitely one of a kind. Fun fact: amphichiral means that the knot and its mirror image are the same. Who knew?

The Curiosity Box by Vsauce Summer 2024 Review – Final Thoughts

Wow! I don’t think I can adequately describe how cool this box was! So many really creative, outside-the-box items and activities – it’s definitely going on my favorites list. I think this box would be such a cool gift, especially for those who love brain teasers, tinkering, or trying new things. They’re exactly right – it’s perfect for thinkers. I think it’s definitely suitable for adults and teens of all ages and genders too.

The booklet included also expands on the learning based on some of the products. For example, there are articles titled,  “Simulating the Red Planet,” “Seeing is Percceiving,” and “It’s Not About the Knots,” where you can learn even more about the topics covered in the box.

I thought it was a very cool experience, with clearly high-quality, engaging products and I’m looking forward to seeing what they include in their next box!  What do you think?
