Decor Passport Review September 2024
Our homes are more than just spaces – they’re reflections of our life’s journeys and the things and memories that matter the most to us. There’s something special about surrounding yourself with pieces that tell a story – whether it’s a handcrafted vase that carries the essence of a distant culture, or a textile woven with traditions passed down through generations. That’s the power of globally inspired decor—and what intrigued me the most about Decor Passport. It invites you to travel without ever leaving your front door, creating an environment that’s rich in culture, character, and charm.

Unboxing the September 2024 Decor Passport
Everything in the box was meticulously packaged. Perfectly bubble wrapped to protect against damage and placed snuggly against each other so there wasn’t a risk of items getting jostled around during transit. Knowing that some of the items inside are likely breakable, I wanted to share how impressed I was with how they packed the box itself! It’s no fun when items arrive damaged, and we all know that the boxes go through the ringer in transit! Decor Passport did a phenomenal job of packing the box, and that shows how much they care about the customer experience.
Before we dive into the (stunning!) items that were included, one of the things that makes Decor Passport so special is that each one of these pieces is ethically and sustainably sourced from local artisans all around the world! These purchases support global communities and make an enormous impact. Beyond that, each item really tells a story – and is such a cool way to incorporate cultural and unique pieces into our homes.
Let’s have a closer look at what was included in the September 2024 Decor Passport box…
Baining Necklace (Papua New Guinea)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this! This beauty, made from cowrie shells, feels like it was pulled straight from an island ceremony. Traditionally worn during ceremonies by the Baining people, it’s a piece of cultural heritage that can also be used as decor. I can already imagine how gorgeous this will look displayed on a table or tall bookshelf. It has such interesting texture and is very solid. I can immediately tell that it’s of very high quality. It stands on a wrought iron base and is very sturdy. I really love this one.
Handwoven Baskets (Uganda)
First of all, I LOVE baskets, and second, these are some of the most gorgeous baskets I’ve seen! They’re not flimsy at all, they’re very structured and solid which I appreciate. As pretty as they are for decoration, they come with a story too. Each one is handmade and comes with a card naming the artist who created it. The possibilities for these baskets are endless, but they could be used for holding plants, storage, or as decoration on a bookshelf or table. They’re a functional yet stylish set that I know I’ll get tons of use out of!
Greenery
I love plants, but I can’t keep them alive to save my life so I was delighted to see that Decor Passport included this potted faux greenery!! I can think of a hundred different places this would look great and add some life and charm to my space! It’s such a versatile size and style – I just love it.
And, look how cute it is in the small basket!! Totally obsessed.
Bone & Brass Frame (India)
This picture frame is absolutely stunning! It’s both modern and traditional, with just enough shine from the brass accents to make it pop without being too much. Fun fact, this is created from cow bone and brass accents for a sustainable piece made of materials that otherwise would have been discarded. It’s going straight on my entryway table with a favorite photo, and I know it’s going to make me smile every time I pass by it.
Glass Planter (Mexico)
Hand-carved from glass, I love the tall shape of this plantar and the natural element it brings. Decor Passport even included an adorable faux stem of succulents to go with. I absolutely love the simplicity of the design, and the fact that it’s hand-carved just adds to its charm. I’m really into the dark amber tone as well, it adds a richness that feels like it’s lived a hundred years. This is one of those pieces that’s both practical and beautiful, and I absolutely cannot wait to find the perfect place for it in my home.
Ashanti Beads (Ghana)
These decorative beads are not only gorgeous but also incredibly versatile. It’s one of those things I’d never think to buy myself but after checking out the tips that Shayna from Decor Passport shared about these, I’m inspired to use them! They can be draped over a vase or bowl (or one of the baskets we just got!) to add texture and style. Of course, these beads come with a story too, they were hand-carved in the Ashanti region of Ghana and represent a rich African history. The craftsmanship is unmatched and they feel like a very exquisite piece.
I draped it over my glass plantar to show you an example of how it could look styled and I think I’m going to keep these two pieces together! Isn’t that pretty?
Magnifying Glass & Letter Opener (India)
I surprisingly love this set! I wasn’t sure when I first read it on the product card – but once I unwrapped it, and held it in my hands, I understood immediately why Decor Passport included it in this collection. It’s beautiful in a vintage kind of way and is clearly made with quality craftsmanship and materials (bone). It adds a level of sophistication that I can’t quite describe. It would look so pretty on a coffee table book, or displayed on a bookshelf. So, so pretty.
Citrus Grove Candle
And finally, we’ve got a candle to add a little ambiance. I wish you could smell this! It smells like a burst of summer in a jar. The clementine and agave notes are fresh and uplifting, and I have a feeling this candle is going to be my new go-to for transitioning from summer to fall. I also loved how the amber jar matches the glass plantar and it has a black wooden cover. It just feels like it belongs and works with every other piece in this collection so beautifully. Decor Passport just keeps on giving with these thoughtful touches.
Abandoned Islands Book
This beautiful hardcover coffee table book is perfect for displaying in a living room or on a shelf. It’s filled with gorgeous photography of abandoned islands, buildings on the islands, beaches, and more that just scratch that wanderlust itch! I love travel and I’m also weirdly obsessed with abandoned buildings and why people abandon them. This book marries my love for the beach and abandoned property in a really unique way! (I never thought I’d be writing that sentence!).
A conversation piece for sure, but can be styled with the magnifying glass and letter writer too!
Print Plate Decoration
I’ll be honest, I really wasn’t sure what this was when I first opened it (and if you watched my YouTube unboxing of this box, I never really figured it out!). But, I did a little research and discovered that this is meant to be a decorative piece that just adds visual interest to your decor. But, the story behind it is that it’s a printing plate! Used to print patterns on fabric. How cool is that? This is what makes Decor Passport so special! Everything has a unique significance and adds so much history and interest to your home. Does it get any better?
Decor Passport September 2024 – Final Thoughts
I honestly feel a bit speechless! This is one of the most beautiful boxes I have had the pleasure of reviewing in a long time. I was blown away by the curation and the quality of the pieces. I feel like even though the pieces are so unique, they still have an interesting neutral feel to them – which in my opinion means they can be integrated with just about any decor style! That’s really hard to accomplish!
Everything felt very high quality, nothing was flimsy or unstable. I know these pieces will live on for a very long time. I also really appreciated how versatile everything was. Each item has several different ways it can be used or styled. Popping on the Decor Passport Instagram page is also a great way to get inspired for how to use each piece as Shayna (the founder) literally shows you how to style each piece. It’s so cool to learn from her vision!
I have personally been sharing this subscription with all my friends because I love it so much! If you’re curious about trying something new or want to update some spaces in your home with truly unique, treasured finds – Decor Passport is absolutely worth it!
