Dollar Tea Club Review October 2020
Dollar Tea Club is a monthly loose leaf tea subscription. Each month, you will receive a sample of several ethically sourced teas for as little as a dollar. They kindly sent us this box to review.
Dollar Tea Club sources their teas through direct trade, ensuring that the farmers are paid reasonable wages. All the teas are flavored naturally and contain no artificial flavors.
There are a few subscription tiers to choose from:
The Explorer – $1 per month plus shipping for 3 samples of tea. Each sample pack contains enough tea for 2-3 cups. You can add 3 HoneyStix to your subscription for $1.95.
The Sensei – $12.70 per month plus shipping for one 50g pouch of tea, monthly samples (makes 6-8 cups), 3 HoneyStix, and 10 tea filters. You will also receive a free infuser with your first order.
The Sommelier – starts at $9 per month plus shipping for your perfect amount of tea (a couple of cups a week, one cup per day, or three cups a day). Each monthly subscription also comes with samples of the month, and a free infuser and tea filters with your first order.
This is a review of the Explorer plan. Everything is shipping in a recyclable cardboard mailer.
There is a card in the packet welcoming me to the club.
The card also contains information on how to order more tea directly from the shop if you like a blend that is sampled.
Lavender Fields
This tea is a blend of green tea and lavender petals. This was the one I was most excited to try since green teas are my favorite and I love lavender. The lavender provided a floral note without being overpowering. I really enjoyed this tea and found it very calming.
Tangy Tang
The next tea I got to try is Tangy Tang, a blend of hibiscus, cornflower petals, rosehip, apple, and orange. This tea is so fruity and really packs a punch! It is tangy as the name suggests and super refreshing. I think this will also be great as an iced tea in the summer.
Pumpkin Patch
The final tea I got to try is one that is perfect for the season! Pumpkin Patch is a blend of black tea, apple, orange, rosehip, pumpkin, hibiscus, calendula, sunflower petals, and cinnamon. This tea really captures the flavor of fall and is so warming during the colder days we are having lately. Personally, I found the cinnamon a little overpowering, but I am sure that others who enjoy cinnamon will love it.
HoneyStix and Paper Filters
I also received a bonus honey stick and 3 paper filters. The honey is delicious added to the tea, or on its own as a sweet snack. I typically use a tea strainer at home, but love these filters for use at work where it is sometimes difficult to clean out a strainer. Love that these are included!
Dollar Tea Club Review October 2020 – Final Thoughts
This is my first month trying out Dollar Tree Club, and I love this idea to try out tea samples before committing to a larger amount. The tea sample amounts are generous, I was able to get three or more cups out of each pack. The blends I got to try this month are so interesting and delicious! My favorite is the Lavender Fields. It is just the perfect after dinner tea. As someone who enjoys trying new teas all the time, this subscription is perfect.
