Essentials Eco Review Summer 2021

Essentials Eco is a quarterly subscription to help subscribers reduce household waste and start their sustainable journey. Each box introduces safe, clean, and eco-friendly products that could be incorporated into the home and daily routine. They kindly sent us this box for review.

Subscription Details

Each Essentials Eco box includes a selection of 5-7 products that are sustainable swaps for existing products and low-tox cleaning and beauty products. These products could include cleaning solutions, kitchen utensils, natural alternatives, personal wellness solutions, single use product alternatives, skincare, oral or personal hygiene products. All products are made in North America by small businesses that focus on eco-sustainability and social responsibility.

Boxes cost $68 per quarter or $260 for an annual subscription, with free shipping within Canada.

Let’s take a closer look at the Summer Essentials Eco Box! I am so excited to be reviewing this. I have been wanting to move to more eco-friendly options for household and personal care products, but never know where to start. A subscription like this sounds perfect!

The Market Bags Reusable Bags

This set includes 3 reusable bags from The Market Bags. There is a larger blue polka dot patterned multi-purpose bag, a mesh product bag, and a small reusable bulk bag. I love bags like these and can never have enough. I use them for all kinds of things, storing produce, bulk items, or even to store dog toys/treats or water bottles on a day out. These are hand or machine washable and really well made.

Goldilocks Swedish Dishcloth

I love the name for how appropriate it is LOL. This dish cloth is “just right” like the fairy tale. I always wanted to try a Swedish dishcloth, and love the size and pretty flowers on this. This multi-purpose cloth is made of 70% cellulose and 30% cotton. It is machine washable and dishwasher safe, so convenient!

Zero Waste MVMT Dish Brush

This wooden dish brush is really well made and sturdy. I can’t wait to put it to good use!

Sittie & Sage Dish Soap

A bar of dish soap to go with my new brush! I was honestly a little sceptical on how well this would work and am pleasantly surprised. It performed just as well as my usual liquid dish soaps in removing grease. I love the gorgeous scent too.

Glass Round Spray Bottle

The team at Essentials Eco must have a crystal ball LOL. I was just mentioning to my husband that we should pick up a spray bottle next time we are at the store so that I could try making my own natural surface cleaner and transition away from the cleaning chemicals we currently use. Right the next day, this box arrived, and in there is a spray bottle! Perfect timing.

Multi Surface Cleaner Recipe

Along with the bottle, the team also included a recipe for a multi surface cleaner made with simple ingredients. Love that there are also blend variations to mix things up.

DYP Refillery Metal Straw

The final item in the box is a reusable metal smoothie straw from DYP Refillery. I have a small collection of resusable straws, but especially love this one for how wide the opening is. I am obsessed with bubble tea, and to me, this is the perfect bubble tea straw. This opening is wide enough for all those chewy tapioca pearls!

Essentials Eco Review Summer 2021 – Final Thoughts

This is my first Essentials Eco Box and I am impressed! I can’t wait to see what future boxes will include. Everything is really useful and a great eco-friendly replacement for existing household products. Sometimes, replacing conventional products with eco-friendly options leads to a compromise in performance, but it is not the case with these items. I love everything in the box, and think they all work really well. I also love that the products are from small North American businesses. If you are looking to start your own sustainability journey, or even just want to try out some new products, I highly recommend Essentials Eco.
