Gen YZ Box Review (Y Box) November 2017

Gen YZ Box is a new subscription box for everyone else. Because being cool different is awesome! It’s a monthly box of awesomeness filled with cool, unique finds for amazing girls and young women.  The value in each box is guaranteed to be at least $90! They kindly sent us this box for review.

Gen YZ is my new favourite box for teens/tweens. This is our second month reviewing the brand new subscription and we are already HUGE fans. We recently posted the November Gen Z Box review and today we are back with the Gen Y Box review. I love that we get to show you both boxes each month as they are each a little different. Yes, they do have some cross-over items, but they also have some unique items specific to the box you order – Y or Z.

Subscription Details

When you sign up for a Gen YZ Box subscription you have two options to choose from:

1. Gen Y Box is recommended for ages 16+.  There are special items we include specifically for this box that will be curated for this age group.
2. Gen Z Box we recommend for ages 15 and under.  This box also includes different items that are curated specifically for the Gen Zers.

What You Get: Each month your box will be loaded with items from decor items for your room to rad accessories.  Each box is jam packed with whimsical items that are unique, fun and expressive that you haven’t seen before.  The best part is that each month it will be a surprise! At Gen Y/Z we want you to have a blast opening up your box each month and discovering the products inside.  Every month will feature a minimum of 7-10 fabulous items that we absolutely love from brands we admire with a few bonus surprise items added in.

Today we are reviewing the Gen Y Box (for ages 16+). Here’s a closer look…….

Lit Happens Tote ($12.49)

So……I am ashamed to admit, and will probably get in trouble for this, but I have NO clue what “lit” means. Geeze, I sound really old right now. I recently received an enamel pin that had the term “lit fam” on it and I had no clue what that meant either. Once I figure it out, I am going to be very excited about this first item because I LOVE canvas totes……..give me all the totes. Maybe its a literature reference since it is a book tote??

Streamline Woodland Twilights Squirrel Light ($14)

This oh-so adorable porcelain LED light glows warmly to make your room a comfortable and warm environment.

This is a cross-over item between the two boxes. It’s the cutest little light ever!!! I just can’t decide where I want to place it.

Sequin Mermaid Pillow Covers ($20)

This magical pair of pillow covers change color with just the swipe of your hand! Not only are the cute but they are addicting to play with.

Oh my goodness!!!! Best day ever. We received these ah-mazing pillow covers in the other box as well but they were a green/blue color. I was already obsessed with them as it was, and now the obsession has grown because the black ones are ten times better than the green ones. If you haven’t played with a mermaid pillow cover…..you MUST!! These things are highly addictive.

Urban Outfitters Icon Print Cardholder ($10)

Minimize clutter with this simple cardholder wallet with tuck + fold closure. Perfect for a night on the town. 

So stinking’ cute. I love the idea of card holders. I always forget to take my cards with me, and now I have no excuse.

Hanging Tail Cat Pin ($4.99)

This safety pin is adorned with a gilded enamel cat head and a tail on the other end. Wear as a brooch on your shirt or as a pin on your bag. 

The other box had a hanging cat tail necklace and here we have the matching pin. I thought I loved the necklace but I think I love the pin even more.

Black Dreamcatcher ($10)

Hang this beautiful dream catch above your bed. It is said that bad dreams are caught inside the web while good dreams pass through and drift down the feathers onto whomever is sleeping below.

We received a white dreamcatcher in the other box. I like that they included a black one in the Gen Y box because we have a bit of a black theme going on and I am actually really loving it.

Crossbody Bag ($25)

It’s pawsitively adorable cross body bag! A loveable leather-look Borton Terrier handbag for the dog loving dame, featuring a removable cross body strap, two interior compartments and outer sleeve on the back.

This is seriously the best bag ever. I posted a photo of the last box on my Instagram account and my niece messaged me immediately (you can see her comment if you look for the Gen Z Box photo) just to tell me that the November Gen Z box is her favourite box I have ever received. She is obsessed with this purse. She can’t wait to get her hands on it.

American Tradition Cookie Cutter ($1.75)

Handmade with tin cut steel, this flamingo cookie cutter is just too cute! Bake your own flock to enjoy.

Bunny Tail Necklace ($9.99)

Our enamel bunny necklace is the definition of cute from the tips of its ears to its dangling tail!

As I mentioned above, we received a cat tail necklace in the last box and here we have a bunny tail necklace. Both are adorable.

Jurassic Earrings ($8.99)

Live your own Jurassic adventure with these awesome Brontosaurus earrings. Made with hypo-allergenic stainless steel posts, these eye-catching earrings are hard to miss. 

How fun are these!!! I just happen to know someone who LOVES Jurassic Park. She is going to get a kick out of these earrings.

Blue Q Magnet ($4)

Made extra thick to take the licks. A magnet so everyone can know exactly how you feel. 

This is already on my fridge…….enough said.

It’s not over yet…..here we have a few bonus items. Or at least that’s what I am calling them because they weren’t on the product card. How nice of them to included a few extra goodies.

Gen YZ Box Review (Y Box) November 2017 – Final Thoughts

I am so impressed with this new subscription box. Did I say that last time? Regardless, it’s worth mentioning again. I think they did a wonderful job with both the Z & the Y box this month. I am amazed by the number of items they pack in to each box, and I LOVE the variety. They manage to find the most unique items and I always have so much fun going through them. My niece has declared this her favourite box and that says a lot because she is a shopping professional and has extremely good taste for someone her age. She also has NO problem telling me if/when she doesn’t like something so I trust her judgement on this one. If you are trying to figure out what to get the teen/tween on your Christmas list look no further. I guarantee they will love this box. Who am I kidding…..I love this box and I definitely don’t fall under the “teen” category. I am honestly really excited to see more from Gen YZ Box. I have a feeling we will see great things from this box.
