Gentleman’s Box Review March 2016 – Men’s Subscription Box
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I get just as excited about my Men’s subscription boxes as I do about the Women’s. Gentleman’s Box puts together a really great box from beginning to end. I do miss the magazine though. Subscribers still get a subscription to GQ magazine with their subscription, but it is shipped separately from the box itself and they use to be shipped together. And I’m still waiting for a Women’s subscription box to include a magazine with their subscription, but I think I will be waiting a long time.
If you aren’t familiar with Gentleman’s Box it is the first subscription box that caters to the modern gentleman. Each month honors a noteworthy gentleman from the past or present. Items in their subscription box for men are hand selected to reflect the carefully crafted image of that month’s honored gentleman. Four to five products, alongside the latest issue of GQ, arrive at your doorstep monthly. This box was provided complimentary for review and may include affiliate links.

This month’s box honors “Our Favourite Captain” and as per usual, I had no clue who it was. You guys are going to start to think I am a hermit, who doesn’t watch TV or read books. But…….I took some time to read the product book this month and they gave us some pretty good clues as to who the gentleman is. They said that he is known for his roles as a crazed mob boss, quirky author, wild candy maker and scurvy pirate. It HAS to be Johnny Depp!!! Please let it be Johnny Depp!! Or I am never guessing ever again.
Knots Apparel The Shipyard Pocket Square ($30) – I have to be honest, this isn’t my favourite pocket square. I think it is the mixture of anchors and denim that’s just not doing it for me. It fits with the theme perfectly, but I think I would have preferred if it was a different material.
Unsimply Stitched Mixed Striped Socks ($12) – These are great, but then again I always like the socks I get in my Gentleman’s Boxes. We have received this brand before but I definitely don’t mind….I like this brand.
Air Force Aviator Sunglasses ($15) – Yes!! I love sunglasses…..and totally don’t care that they are men’s sunglasses….I will probably end up wearing them anyways. I wish we received sunglasses more often in subscription boxes, especially this time of year, it’s such a great idea. I don’t really love the lens on these ones, I prefer a darker lens, but the style is perfect!
Woodchuck USA Wooden Collar Stays ($30) – I’m still a little confused by the whole collar stay thing, can someone explain it to me? I know they are meant to keep collars straight, but do all men’s shirts have a little pocket in the collar? Regardless, I love that they sent us a set of three.
Billy Jealousy After Shave Balm – I really like this brand (for men that is). And apparently this shave balm is award-winning.
Value: $87
Thoughts: This month’s Gentleman’s Box is great, but the pocket square is throwing me off. I just can’t picture J wearing this one to work. It seems a little juvenile to me, that is probably the wrong word to describe it, but I can’t really think of a better one. Maybe it’s the idea of pairing denim with a suit that I don’t like. Anyways, the rest of the box is great. I am super excited to see a pair of sunglasses in the box. They included a pair in their August 2015 box, and I totally wouldn’t mind if this was a regular item……hint, hint. Other than that, the value is great, as per usual, and the product mix is great, as per usual.
What do you think of this month’s Gentleman’s Box?
XOXO
