GlobeIn is a mission driven company empowering hard working people in remote regions to connect to the global market. Their main product is the Artisan Box monthly subscription featuring exclusive, handcrafted products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme by their editor to bring you exciting products that make you feel well traveled and connected with distant cultures around the world.
Starting last month GlobeIn is offering two new Artisan Box themes every month!
I’ve only reviewed this box a few times for Sarah but it’s safe to say that I’m already in love! If you are a frequent reader of the blog you will know that Sarah is a huge fan of this box! I’m not surprised they have moved to offering two boxes a month, as the contents and quality are always consistent and the items are just too beautiful!
April 2017 Theme – Sustain
This box steps forward in the global effort toward sustainability. It is a multifaceted effort that criss-crosses many fronts, and likewise the items gathered here stand for environmental, cultural, financial, and even emotional sources of sustenance.
From an instrument hammered into shape out of old metal scraps, to a basket woven of riverside reeds, to a tumbler sculpted from trashed bottles, each of your items also represents a process of metamorphosis, of raw materials undergoing transformation into a new life of beauty and function. So too, your air plant symbolizes the first bits of nature to return to disaster ridden communities, rekindling hope to their people.
Perhaps the spirit of sustainability is all about cycles of fall and rebirth. Feel free to muse upon this, or simply enjoy the use of your new goods.
Kaisa Basket Bowl
Suggested Use: Fill with wildflowers, pinecones, and natural treasures for a vibrant eco-centrepiece, or use as a fruit bowl or bread basket
Such a beautiful item! I love the idea of planting flowers in it. I’ve been a little obsessed with flowers and plants lately. I think it’s just the spring bug! I’ll probably have to wonder back to the greenery in search of the perfect plant for this treasure!
Air Plant
Suggested Use: Place out of direct sunlight and spray with water 1-3 times a week
This little plant is so cute! I have received air plants in a few subscription boxes now, but you can always use more, as they don’t take up much space and they are pretty easy to maintain.
Upcycled Bell
Suggested Use: For the holidays, or all year round, add some sonic decor. Hang on a door knob or by the window
Upcycled items are all the rage here, but really they are just a thing of every day ingenuity in other countries, built out of necessity or creative minds looking to explore what they can make out of their surroundings. This bell should be a reminder that something can always be made out of nothing!
Recycled Glass Tumbler
Suggested Use: Sip a fancy drink! Or, place a small tea light candle inside for a brilliant glow
Ahhh! So beautiful! I think I will use it for a fancy drink. I can see how this would make a gorgeous candle holder, but I feel like it deserves to be used and held than simply used for a candle. Made from recycled bottles this is a beautiful reminder that one mans garbage is another mans treasure
GlobeIn April 2017 – Final Thoughts
I feel like “Final Thoughts” isn’t the right term for this, because this box really does inspire beginnings! Every item is such an insightful look into other cultures, crafts, works of art and beauty that it really inspires me to research, travel and explore more. I love the theme of “Sustain” and think every item was beautifully picked to support this theme. The tumbler is my favourite item with the basket being a close second! For a traveler this box couldn’t be more perfect. Have memories of your travels sparked, or get inspired to explore new places. This box is an incredible value for the items you receive. I think this box will continue to be a favourite for AYOB!
