GlobeIn Artisan Box Review May 2017: Epicure

GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring favorite products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by the editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures. They kindly sent us this box for review.

GlobeIn is easily one of our favourite boxes.  Apparently it also happens to be the favourite box of many, many others, as they are now offering two boxes a month!  Say what!!  This works perfectly for Sarah and I, as now we don’t have to fight over who get’s to review GlobeIn each month.

I am reviewing the Artisan Box and this box’s theme is “Epicure”.  “Writer Virginia Woolf once proclaimed, “Once cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” To which this box proclaims, here, here!  Indeed, what if the path to our highest good really were through following our pleasure?

Once again, I have to apologize for the amount of photos I have taken of the items in this month’s box.  I just could not help myself.  Everything was so beautiful!  I also may or may not have squealed with ‘eeeeee’s and ‘OooHhhhh!!’s quite a few times.  This box is totally my jam and my style.  I absolutely love every item!

Come on already!  Look how great these items are!?  I just had a girls wine night at my place last week and boy would these items have gone to good use.  Oh well, looks like I’ll have to host another girls wine night soon.  Poor me…

Stemless Wine Glasses – Mexico

If, as they say, anything worth doing is worth doing well, then enjoying a glass of wine is worth doing so out of the most beautiful vessel you can dream up.
Suggested Uses: Make a toast!

I am 100% in love with these!  This is the item that caused me to let out a very high pitched, ‘eeee!!!’  I can’t get over how nice they are.  The glass itself is so thick, I just love it.  They feel so good in your hands.  I would use these for way more than just wine.  The design on them is fitting for almost any beverage.

The colours on these glasses is what I love the most.  They are so spunky and creative.  I can’t stop looking at them… even now, in these photos.  I can’t stop looking at them.  I can’t wait to drink wine out of them or cold brew coffee, orange juice, water.  It’ doesn’t matter really.  I just can’t wait to use them.

Mouse Cheese Knife – India

A new vibe seems to have entered the wine world these days, and that vibe is to let loose!  Just because you’re drinking wine, that’s no reason to get all high brow.  Who’s to say you can’t admire a fine vintage and crack a bad joke all in the same breath?  Lucky for you, it’s impossible to get too serious in the presence of a mouse-shaped cheese knife.  It’s sure to get the smiles from your happy hour guests and encourage the bubbling up of silly epiphanies and lighthearted humour.
Suggested Use: Tuck slyly alongside whatever’s being served on your cheese plate

This is the cutest knife ever!  My other cheese knives also happen to be shaped like mice.  I’m totally that wine connoisseur that is cracking the bad jokes along side a glass of merlot, and I’m totally ok with it.

Neem Wood Cheese Board – India

Serve up cheese and hors d’oevres in rustic style with your new cheese board carved from soft neem wood.  Residing in West Bengal, the family of woodcarvers who crafted your new board are ever incredulous tat their good travel to distant places on the other side of the globe that they themselves may never see!  Nonetheless, revenue generated from these goods travels back around the world to have a big impact on their livelihoods.
Suggested Use: Lay out a cheese or charcuterie spread, and serve!

Such a beautiful piece!  This is exactly the type of item I love having around when serving guests.  I’ve actually been on the look out for smaller plates and this fits the bill perfectly.  I also love the trend of raw wood pieces for serving plates. This is just big enough for a nice large piece of brie with a few grapes for garnish, or two nice size pieces of cheese.

Mini Handwoven Basket – Mexico

Consider this lovely little piece a mini variation of our signature baskets.  Your new Mexican basket comes from our weaving colleagues in Oaxaca, including Dona Leonor, who uses the money she makes through GloveIn to keep her teenage sons in school
Suggested Use: Fill with a bowl of nuts, olives, chocolate, stuff with cocktail picks for your appetizers, or stuff with napkins.

Ok, this is why I love this box so much!  You can so quickly forget that what you are purchasing has come from somewhere, made by someone who is just trying to do life to their best of their ability, just like you and me.  GlobeIn really partners with people who are looking to make ends meet, or keep their kids in school or just provide a good life for them and their community.  Aren’t we all trying to do that?  I love supporting a company that really works on giving back in ways through supporting businesses that are already going.

GlobeIn Artisan Box May 2017 – Final Thoughts

Standing ‘O’ for this one.  I’m really loving that all items can be used together for a single event, or separately for their own individual enjoyment.  Them glasses though… Still can’t take my eyes off them.  Every month GlobeIn has really outdone themselves.  I’m not even sure what else to say, because I feel like I’ll just keep blabbing on about how awesome this box is… So let me say this.  Just do it already.  Subscribe to this box and experience it for yourself, because really, that’s the only way you are going to know what it’s all about.  It will be worth it!
