GLOSSYBOX Review: August 2022

GLOSSYBOX is a subscription from the US that sends you a box of five deluxe or full-size beauty products every month for $21 USD that’s valued at $75 or more. August’s edition, The Art of Beauty, encouraged subscribers to get creative with “products that let us step out of our comfort zone and tools that help us feel like a masterpiece!”

GLOSSYBOX offers four subscription options (all prices in USD):

Shipping in the US is free and shipping to Canada is $5/box + any duties and customs fees.

Each GLOSSYBOX comes with a bi-fold product guide that looks like a mini magazine. (Bi-fold means there’s a front and back cover and two inside panels.) Inside are pictures and descriptions of the contents, tips on how to use them and the retail price of each. Very slick, very profesh.

Authentic Beauty Concept Beachy Texture Spray (full size) “Whether you’re creating a laid back summer beachy wave, or an on-trend braided up-do, texture is key! Shake up this lightweight, non-crunchy spray and spritz through the roots and lengths of your hair before blow-drying or styling. The organic sugar and seal salt ingredients will give your hair volume, shape and better grip. $20”

We moved in July and I’ve only just found the blow dryer 🤦‍♀️ so I haven’t tried this with any styling tools but I’ve used it on wet hair and it really brought out my natural waves. I like that it’s vegan and free of all sorts of nasties and the spray format is easier to control than a cream.

Estate Cosmetics Hidden Garden Pigment Palette (full size) “It’s time to release your inner artist! Grab your brush and tap into the beautifully rich mattes and shimmers inside this eyeshadow palette. There’s neutral tones you can wear everyday to flatter and contour your eyes, but there’s also green, purple and red to create colorful, smokey, artistic looks. $30”

These colours are gorgeous for fall and winter and I love the mix of matte and shimmer. A beautiful palette inside and out. 🍄

Tangle Teezer Professional Detangling Hairbrush (full size) “Small in size but big on detangling! The original brush from Tangle Teezer is a firm favorite among the Glossybox team and this smaller version is perfect for your purse or travel bag. No pulling or tugging, it’s super gentle and glides through wet or dry hair easily. $9.99”

Korres Apothecary Wild Rose Night Brightening Sleeping Facial (deluxe size) “All great arts needs a beautiful canvas, and your skin is the most important canvas of all! This nourishing and smoothing formula contains vitamin C and rose extracts to brighten, plump, reduce dark spots and leave skin looking more even. Leave it on overnight and wake up looking glowing and hydrated! $25”

We swear by Tangle Teezers too but I’ll be gifting this one since we already have a few. And the facial is really lovely. Makes my skin look brighter and feel so soft. The rose scent is a bit strong and might put some people off but if you like rose you’ll love this.

Luxie 205 Tapered Blending Brush (full size) “We love Luxie for their huge range of brush shapes and their pleasing pink and rose gold designs! The 205 is a great all-rounder, ideal for applying and blending out transition colors in your crease, or for blending any harsh lines in your eyeshadow look. Plus the synthetic bristles are super easy to clean. $15”

EXTRA TREAT: Viktor & Rolf Good Fortune Eau de Parfum (sample size) “Meet our new perfume obsession! The Good Fortune fragrance was inspired by Viktor & Rolf’s Spiritual Glamour Haute Couture Collection and it’s wonderfully feminine and powerful. Top notes are fennel and gentian flower, heart of jasmine, and bottom notes of creamy bourbon vanilla.”

Luxie brushes are lovely but I feel like this one is just too large for my lids and would really be better suited for blush. The eau de parfum is gorgeous — it’s giving me warm floral vibes and feels like something you’d pair with something sophisticated and elegant for an evening out.

I just realized I forgot to include the Tangle Teezer in this pic of the full contents ↑ but even without it, it’s impressive, no? Four full-sized products + a deluxe sample and an extra treat = a long of bang for your beauty buck. August’s GLOSSYBOX is valued at $124.99. If you like experimenting with beauty and skincare, this is a great subscription to try.
