GLOSSYBOX Review September 2019

GLOSSYBOX is a U.S. beauty subscription box that typically comes with five deluxe or full-size beauty products ranging from trendy to high-end. At $21 USD it’s generally a great value for what you get and a fun way to try brands you may not have seen otherwise. (GLOSSYBOX draws from 400+ brands around the world.) September’s box includes a bonus mystery product. I didn’t look at the spoilers, so the contents were a complete surprise to me.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

There are four subscription options (all prices in USD):

Shipping in the US is free; shipping to Canada is $5/box + any duties and customs fees.

Subscribers can complete a beauty profile to help ensure the box matches their preferences and needs. It can be updated at any time.

Each box opens with one-page, fold-out guide to the contents. The August box also included discounts for Naked Wines ($100 off a case of wine priced at $160 or more) and Hello Fresh ($25 off your first two deliveries). The Naked Wines discount is only available in the US.

Grow Gorgeous Rescue & Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

With ingredients including Sea Satin, Amino Acids, and Bamboo extract, this duo from Grow Gorgeous works to fortify damaged hair from excessive bleaching and heat styling. Perfect for post-summer care, this set leaves your hair soft and stronger than ever before. ($18 for the pair)

Soft, stronger hair is something I won’t turn down, and these mini sizes are so handy for the gym or travel. (Much more likely to be the gym in my case. #homebody) The purple tubes made me think there was purple shampoo inside, which I need, but not this time. They’re a good size, enough for a couple of washes for sure.

Avant Prestige Pro-Perfecting Collagen Primer Touche Éclat

Get that extra perk-up before your next makeup application with this lovely primer from Avant. With natural ingredients, this PETA approved primer will stimulate your collagen like a fresh dermatologist visit! ($105)

This small size is the full size, so for $105 I’m expecting one amazing primer. It does feel lovely but I’m wondering how long you’d need to use it to really notice that collagen boost. Buying this on the regular would put us in the poorhouse!

Contour Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick (Juju)

When you want luscious lips in a flash, this liquid lipstick is your secret weapon. With its intense pigmentation and even application, you’ll have the puckered pout you’ve always wanted, every time. ($29)

Pluses: The colour is really, really gorgeous (a bit darker than it looks here) and it has great staying power. Minus: It feels really dry. I wouldn’t buy it for that reason alone, but now that I have it I’ll top it with a gloss and use it up.

Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner (Black)

London’s calling, and their cruelty-free eye makeup brand is here to keep your cat eyes smudge-proof and utterly fool-proof for any catwalk. Say hello, hello, and hellooo to long lasting lines. ($22)

I’ve received this eyeliner in another beauty box and I quite like it. The fat, Sharpie-like tip makes it easier to apply than most and it really doesn’t budge.

TOCCA Montauk Candle (Salt Air Cucumber)

Retreat to where the sound meets the sea. Breathe in the salt air, cucumber and sea grass abound in this natural and unspoiled haven. The perfect accessory for your home and can be used as a jewelry holder or for decor after the candle is done. ($42/10oz; featured size 1.2 oz)

The candle is the mystery bonus item (one of seven bonus products you could get) and it’s right up my alley. Burning candles makes everything feel so much cozier and this one smells fresh and clean.

September’s GLOSSYBOX is valued at approximately $178. I wish the lipstick had been a total winner but on the whole, I’m pretty happy with this month’s offering.

What do you think of this month’s box? Is there a particular product in this one that you’d like to try?
