GLOSSYBOX Review: The Mother’s Day Box 2022
If you like experimenting with all kinds of skincare, cosmetics and haircare, monthly beauty box GLOSSYBOX is a fun one to try. For $21 USD you get 5 deluxe and full size products valued at $75 or more. A solid value, even if one or two items are a miss. But the limited editions take it to another level. The Mother’s Day box, for example, featured $275 in product for $30 to $35 ($30 for subscribers, $35 for non-subscribers). 😲 Here’s a look. *

GLOSSYBOX put out two editions of the box, one in pink and another in blue, both peppered with pretty florals for Spring. I save my favourite designs and this one’s a keeper.
Most boxes include a product guide but the Mother’s Day one did not, which I really did miss. IMHO, the guide makes the contents feel much more like a curated collection and the product descriptions and tips help me appreciate what I’m getting and how to get the most out of it.
The product descriptions below are from the brands’ websites.
Cuvée Beauty Champagne Infused Volumizing Mist (deluxe size) · “Create instant, maximum body with our quick-dry, strong-hold, non-sticky Volumizing Mist. It leaves hair looking fuller, provides heat protection, and helps prevent frizz. This conditioning formula takes hair from flat to full, creating shiny, luscious volume with staying power. Plus, our skincare-grade ingredients—including resveratrol & ceramides—support scalp & hair health.”
It’s been weeks since I’ve put any effort into my hair other than washing it (we’re moving next week so self-care’s been on the back burner) but I’m excited to see how this mist performs. My hair is thin and pretty flat — full, luscious locks are the dream!
Velvet Eyewear’s Bonnie Sunglasses (rose gold) · “A small to medium sized classic Aviator. This style is a “go to” for every day. This style is super clean and comfy. It fits almost any shape face. Square, Round, and Ovals are our favorite shape faces for the Aviator. Every hair color is “a-okay”!”
Aviators are one of my favourite styles and the smaller size of this pair is perfect for me. I prefer gold or silver over rose gold but it’s pretty here.
Nudestix Lemon-Aid Detox & Glow Micro-Peel (full size) · “A skin clarifying at-home chemical peel that detoxifies the pores of excess oil, dirt and pollution while visibly rejuvenating skin tone and texture – powered by enzymatic peeling action of papain along with the renewal properties of apple and pomegranate extracts. This skin superhero is also formulated with Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant and Lemon Peel Oil brightens skin for a radiant, youthful glow.”
The word “peel” scares me a bit but there’s no need to worry with this one. It’s gentle enough to use several times a week and doesn’t strip your skin of moisture. I’ve used it a few times and really, really like it. And it’s $40 at Sephora here in Canada. More than the price of the box!
Bioderma Sébium H2O Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution (deluxe size) · “Purifying, dermatological micellar water that cleanses the skin by effectively removing dirt and makeup.”
I’ve used another Bioderma micellar water and it was lovely. Very gentle. This one is supposed to be particularly good for managing the shine, dullness and large pores common with oily and combination skin.
Grande Cosmetics Grande Pout Plumping Lip Mask (full size) · “Skip the lip service and get a plump, pillowy pout with GrandePOUT Plumping Lip Mask from Grande Cosmetics. This 2-in-1 solution is infused with key ingredient complexes Volulip and DuraQuench to plump lips with moisture, help reduce lip lines/wrinkles, and lock in moisture.”
I’m not seeing a dramatic difference in fullness with this mask but it definitely feels hydrating and doesn’t sting or feel hot like some lip plumpers I’ve tried. Smells like a strawberry milkshake (tho it’s called berry mojito).
Glasshouse Fragrances 4pc Eau de Parfum Fragrance Set (deluxe size; 5 ml/each) · “Forever Florence (Wild Peonies & Lily); A Tahaa Affair (Butterscotch Caramel & Jasmine); Kyoto in Bloom (Camellia & Lotus); Midnight in Milan (Saffron & Rose).”
My better half finds most perfumes too much so I don’t tend to wear it very often, just the tiniest spitz or roll-on every once in a while. I like all but one of these (Kyoto in Bloom — too heavy).
Laritzy Eye Palette – Royal (full size) · “Our Artistry Palettes feature a mix of mattes and shimmers. These shadows are formulated to deliver smooth, highly blendable colour for a buildable eye look that will take you from day to night.
- Gem – Rose Gold Shimmer
- Empress – Soft Dusty Purple
- Jewel – Taupe Shimmer
- Palace – Purple Shimmer
- Maharani – Muted Purple”
Laruce Midnight Eyeshadow Brushes Duo (Angled Shading and Tapered Blending, full size)
I don’t need another eyeshadow palette or brushes, for that matter, but these are all so nice. Beautiful colours in the palette and the brushes feel great, not cheap.
#Give Them Lala Beauty Everyday Mascara (full size) · “Featuring a silicone wand that coats the lashes with ease to lengthen, enhance, and volumize. No clumping, smudging, or flaking from this weightless formula. Apply a few coats for a full glam look, or one coat for an everyday, natural look. “
Few mascaras compare to my ride-or-die’s (Benefit’s They’re Real! and Bourjois Paris Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara) including this one. It just doesn’t give me the volume or length I’m looking for, but it does feel light and didn’t flake.
Alllllll this for $30 to $35! I think the GLOSSYBOX Mother’s Day Box was a steal. I’m not sure why this one didn’t include a product guide but I hope we’ll see one in future limited editions. Other than that, I think GLOSSYBOX did a wonderful job with this box.
