Goodfood is a weekly subscription that delivers all of the fresh ingredients you need in pre-measured amounts to make delicious meals at home. Earlier this year the company introduced a breakfast option: a variety of smoothies packed with quality farm-frozen ingredients and ready in seconds. This month I tried a new flavour, PB&J.
Goodfood smoothies are shipped in boxes of 12, and you can make your selections in advance. (There are currently 16 different flavours.) You can also choose your delivery frequency, whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly, every three weeks or once a month.
Goodfood currently delivers to Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and the Maritimes. Delivery is free.
To make a smoothie, simply remove the top and fill the container with the liquid of your choice, pour the contents into a blender, whizz until smooth, then pour the contents back into your cup and enjoy. If you want to use the lid, there’s a hole in the top for a straw (paper, glass or stainless steel recommended).
The PB&J smoothie is a mix of raspberries, cherries, raw wild jungle peanuts, peanut butter, organic rye, dates, red chard and Himalayan sea salt. Made with water, it’s 343 calories for the cup — 14 grams fat; 3 grams saturated fat; 55 mg sodium; 50 grams carbs; 20 grams sugar; 10 grams of protein and 9 grams of fibre.
I love a PB&J sandwich and the smoothie tastes just like one. So delicious!
When I’m at home I usually drink my smoothies straight from the blender cup, but if you’re on the go it’s handy to take the paper cup and dash.
I’ve also had Boreal Berry, Macadamia Sunrise, Acai Bellini, Piña Colada, and Banana Pecan and they’re all really, really good. Interesting combinations of fruits and superfoods that I wouldn’t usually buy or think to put together. I find them really filling and satisfying (9 grams of fibre for the PB&J smoothie is great!) and so convenient to have in the freezer to grab for a meal or a snack.
