Hand-hammered Carbon Steel Wok ($35.00) – I’m in the process of upgrading all my pots and pans, so obviously I am super excited to see this in the box. I will have to read up on this bad boy though, apparently I have to season it before use, and there are specific cleaning instructions as well…..talk about high-maintenance…..but I totally don’t mind, I’m excited to get my stir-fry on!
Wok Ring by Hamptons Lane ($8.00) – I was so confused by this at first (I was having a slow moment) but with the bottom of the wok being round we obviously need a stable surface to put it on while we test out our new recipes.
Award-Winning Jade Sichuan Peanut Sauce by TLA Pacific Kitchen Inc ($13.00) – I absolutely love peanut sauce, I would put it on everything if I could, we’re talking like eat it with a spoon kind of love. I will be using this to make Pad Thai and Salad Rolls.
Critically Acclaimed Green Curry Sauce by Thaifusions Co. ($17.00) – I also happen to love curry, so basically I love everything about this box so far. We received two recipes to go with this ingredient, and I will be making both – Green Curry in a Hurry & Green Curry Ramen.
Organic Pad Thai Noodles by King Soba ($4.00) – Noodles are a necessity when making Thai food, and I’m happy to see that these are made with brown rice.
Best in the World Red Boat Fish Sauce by Viet Phu Inc. ($9.00) – This is where it gets tricky. Vegans obviously can’t consume fish sauce, but it’s one of the most important ingredients in certain Thai dishes. I will probably still use it in the recipes I test out, but will try to minimize the amount.
Thoughts: I absolutely, 100%, love this month’s box. But then again, I love all my Hamptons Lane boxes. I get so excited about this subscription, I can’t even describe it in words. I feel like it is a monthly reminder to spend time in the kitchen, and it reduces the amount of time spent researching recipes and creating menu plans. Thai food also happens to be a favourite, because it’s so easy to modify the recipes and make them vegan friendly. I can use tofu in place of shrimp & beef, and they almost always use coconut milk instead of dairy products…..it’s a dream cuisine for us high-maintenance vegans.
