If you’re not familiar with it, “hygge” comes from Danish culture and describes a cozy or comfortable mood that evokes contentment. Often when we think of hygge we think of warm blankets, soft slippers, and cozy fires – so I was especially excited to try the summer Hygge Box to see how we can embrace hygge in warm seasons too.

Unboxing the Summer 2024 Hygge Box

I want to share a little snippet from the Hygge Box product card, because I think it does the perfect job of setting the tone for what’s to come in this box:

That resonated with me so much as I’m living through a super busy season. This box reminds me to slow down and focus on what really matters.

Here’s a closer look at the items we received in the Summer Hygge Box…

Luminary Lanterns: This might be the coolest thing I’ve received in a subscription box in a long time! Hygge Box always includes a light source, and this month they included these enchanting luminary lanterns. They’re made of a very strong vinyl-like material that is reusable, recyclable, and BPA-free. Just expand the pleated bottom of the lantern, fill it with water, and then add the LED candle that’s included and the light is activated by the water!  It’s seriously so cool. This contains a set of 4 lanterns that are reusable and lay flat when not in use so they’re easy to store.  I thought the little honeycomb and bee pattern was very charming too.

Peach Iced Tea: This was what made the box smell so delicious when I opened it! It was hiding on the bottom under the crinkle paper and I almost missed it if not for the delicious scent! I absolutely love peach tea, so this was an extremely fun find! Made from pure Ceylong black tea has a bold, smooth flavor with a hint of light cane sugar. Each 1 oz tea bag makes a gallon of peach-flavored ice team – yes, please!

Peach Jam: Another yummy peach treat! This Italian jam is made with organic peaches and cane sugar. It offers a rich authentic flavor which is perfect because I love peach – but I don’t love fake peach flavor. This is clearly made from real, ripe, juicy peaches and has a lovely bold flavor. It would be perfect on toast, mixed with yogurt, or served on top of soft cheese like brie for dipping with crackers. I’m thinking of all the ways to use this and inviting friends over to enjoy it with me – now that’s hygge.

Dessert Bowl: I literally squealed in delight when I saw this absolutely gorgeous porcelain bowl. It’s just beautiful and is crafted from 100% porcelain, with unique variations of color and texture. Because of its reactive glaze, it is dishwasher and microwave-safe. It’s a good size, 12 ounces, and boasts quality craftsmanship. It’s clearly well-made and a lot more heavy-duty than it appears.  I especially love the light peach color and the variations within it. It’s really pretty.

Peach Mini Bath Bomb: How cute is this little guy? Infused with the scent of…you guessed it…fresh peaches (I’m sensing a theme here!).  It’s ready to transform your bath into a luxurious, aromatic escape. I love this little bath bomb and think it’s a fun addition to the box.

Wooden Spreaders (Deluxe Box Only): Deluxe box subscribers received an extra bonus item – these adorable wooden spreaders. They’re nature-inspired and perfect for soft cheeses, butter, and jam. Each spreader is crafted from a durable beechwood with a natural oil finish. I love the laser-etched forest designs – they’re just so charming! They’re more oversized than what you would typically see in a spreader – these are 7 inches in size. I like the oversized look and feel and I think they’d be a fun conversation piece too when serving friends.

Hygge Box Review Summer 2024 – Final Thoughts

I was really impressed with this month’s Hygge Box!  I love how they incorporated the peach theme and brought the essence of hygge to life in the summer. All of the items were so unique and creative, yet very functional and practical at the same time. I know each and every item will be put to use and appreciated.  I’m especially excited about the luminary lanterns!  Setting those up on the patio and enjoying a Peach Jam topped baked brie (served with the adorable wooden spreaders) with my sweetie is the perfect way to experience hygge this month.

I’m grateful that Hygge Box provides such thoughtful ways for us to slow down and savor the flavors of summer.  I absolutely loved this box and I can’t wait to see what they do next month!  I think it would be a fantastic gift for a friend who could use some comfort or as a way to treat yourself – to find those moments of calm, and peace during a busy life.
