Laid Back Snacks Review November 2022

Healthy snacking is a lot easier when you’ve got options on hand, as opposed to six different kinds of Christmas cookies tempting you at every turn. (And even then! 😬) Laid Back Snacks can help. It’s a healthy snack subscription service with 31 different varieties to choose from including gluten-free, nut-free and vegan options. I’m trying a monthly subscription. Here’s a look at my latest delivery and more on how it works.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

Laid Back Snacks offers three box sizes: 6, 10 and 20 snacks. Each is available by subscription for delivery every two weeks, every month, or every two months. Subscribers may select their snacks or opt for a surprise mix.

If you want to try a box or gift a box or a subscription, options are available there too.

Laid Back Snacks ships across North America. Shipping for the 10- and 20-snack subscriptions is always free and free in some areas for the 6-snack plans.

Mine is the 6-snack subscription shipping once a month. Laid Back Snacks picked my snacks.

Most bags contain four portions, about a palmful each. My November box included a mix of sweet and savoury options.

Aloha Kauai“Welcome to the islands! This tropical treat will escort you to your own private cabana on the beach. Macadamia nuts mingle with island fruits and toasted coconut to give you that cool-dip-on-a-hot-day feeling. Coconut flakes contain manganese for making strong bones and processing cholesterol. Heart-healthy Aloha Kauai is also high in fibre and helps speed along full body healing. Mahalo!”

A totally satisfying snack made interesting with all kinds of different textures and a surprisingly soft-chew to the dried pineapple which can also be rock-hard and just way too sweet (at least in other snack mixes I’ve tried).

Goji Granola“A whole lot of heart and a huge bunch of health goes into every delicious batch of Goji Granola. This snack’s impressive list of certified organic ingredients are as great tasting as they are good for you. Eat it up however you’d like – straight from the bag, sprinkled on your yogurt, or add some milk and dive into a bowl. Whichever way you choose to enjoy it, be prepared to fall in love with 100% granola goodness!”

I had this one in last month’s box it is awesome. Tastes like oatmeal cookies and good for you too! That said, finding a goji berry in the bag is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Laid Back Snacks could stand to be a little more generous with those.

Aloha Kauai in all its delicious goodness.

Hearty Tamari“Hearty Tamari is one of our most popular savoury snacks. This is a fantastic healthy alternative to those no-good potato chips. Instead of empty calories, Hearty Tamari will leave you feeling happy and satiated. Sesame sticks and spicy pretzels mix with almonds and cashews, all lovingly slow-roasted in delicious tamari. This exotic taste from Japan confirms what we already knew – for good times, make them Tamari times.”

I’ve had these before and they’re scrumptious. And not too spicy either (to me even pepper is spicy). I tucked these in my better half’s bag to take to work. Savoury snacks are his jam and he’s a fan of these as well.

Maple Praline Almonds“Maple Praline Almonds are our salute to the Great White North. Thanks for being awesome, Canada! We use the finest maple syrup from Quebec and mix in some praline deliciousness. The two go together like flannel and lumberjacks. These crunchy nuggets are artisanally crafted in small batches using superior grade California almonds. It’s not all indulgence though, almonds also help to build and maintain strong bones. Strong bones for everyone!”

Another tasty repeat from October’s box and very delish. Fresh and crunchy with fat and fibre to fill you up. Maybe not as maple-forward as they could be still one to recommend.

Sriracha Cashews“Sriracha is so hot right now, in all sorts of ways. We took some time to decide which of our favourite nuts could handle the spicy action this exotic hot sauce brings to the table. It turns out that the smooth, rich flavour of the cashew is the perfect dance partner. Cashews give you an extended energy boost and help support a strong immune system. And Sriracha…well, you’ll have to let your taste buds decide!”

My guy puts hot sauce on everything and Sriracha in particular so he’s very into this snack. I feel like it he might like it sprinkled on a spicy noodle dish as well.

Weekend Crunch“If you’re looking for a tasty alternative to nutrient-free potato chips, then look no further. Weekend Crunch has been designed to give you the same crunch satisfaction, but with none of the nasties. This thirst inducing treat is high in protein, fibre, and contains nutrient levels to help you relax throughout the day. Perfect for when your favourite team is playing and there are bragging rights on the line. Go get ’em!”

Another savoury snack, this one with spicy wasabi peas and probably my guy’s favourite in November’s box. I wish I’d saved it to put on a Christmas charcuterie board. The peas would be such a great pop of colour!

November’s box was a hit all-round! A great balance of sweet and savoury snacks so something for everyone and a healthy alternative to other foodstuffs we might overindulge in this time of year. I’d like to see compostable packaging for the snacks themselves but maybe that’s something Laid Back Snacks is working on for the new year.
