Laid Back Snacks is a healthy snack subscription service with 31 different varieties to choose from including gluten-free, nut-free and vegan options. I’ve tried many of their munchies since they launched in 2014 but this is my first subscription and I’m excited to share! *
* They kindly sent us this box for review
Laid Back Snacks offers three box sizes: 6, 10 and 20 snacks. Each is available by subscription for delivery every two weeks, every month, or every two months. Subscribers may select their snacks or opt for a surprise mix.
If you want to try a box or gift a box or a subscription, options are available there too.
Laid Back Snacks ships across North America. Shipping for the 10- and 20-snack subscriptions is always free and free in some areas for the 6-snack plans.
Mine is the 6-snack subscription shipping once a month. (Try to say that seven times fast. 😉)
Laid Back Snacks picked my mix and they happen to include some of my favourites! 😋 Let’s take a look.
Orchard Apple: “Snack time can often get messy. Our Orchard Apple is the perfectly packaged snack food with no sticky texture, or badly behaved nuts to worry about. Fresh from the orchard, this apple has a soft and comforting chew, which is sometimes a nice change from our more crunchy snacks. Apples are rich in vitamin B, C and antioxidants, and the pectin helps to reduce bad cholesterol. It really is true what they say – an apple a day!”
A longtime favourite, these are the most delicious apple rings I’ve tried by miles! Other packaged brands or ones I’ve bought in bulk just do not compare.
This is the first snack I opened and I ate it in one sitting. 🤦♀️ In my defense, almost all Laid Back Snacks contain four portions but this one is closer to three. (Or one in my case. 😬)
Maple Praline Almonds: “Maple Praline Almonds are our salute to the Great White North. Thanks for being awesome, Canada! We use the finest maple syrup from Quebec and mix in some praline deliciousness. The two go together like flannel and lumberjacks. These crunchy nuggets are artisanally crafted in small batches using superior grade California almonds. It’s not all indulgence though, almonds also help to build and maintain strong bones. Strong bones for everyone!”
This was the sweetest snack in my box with 11 grams of sugar per serving. Even for a sweet tooth like me, a small handful is just the perfect (maple) sugar hit to satisfy my craving. Forget sugar and spice, try maple and sweet for such a nice treat.
Nutless Wonder: “Not everyone loves nuts, and that’s ok. For those who’ve decided to shy away, or been told that nuts aren’t welcome in their favourite snacking location, we’ve got you covered. Nutless Wonder has all the satisfying crunch of a nut-filled snack thanks to our seasalt chickpeas. Apple pieces and cranberries bring the healthy sweetness, while pumpkin seeds add fibre and help support a relaxed nervous system. One taste and you’ll never need a nut again!”
With so many delicious ingredients it’s a wonder I don’t love this snack but it’s the chickpeas that make it a bit of a miss for me. Just not my fave. But they’re easy enough to pick out. My hubby will happily take them!
Wholesome Yogi: “Invite good karma into your day with Wholesome Yogi. This mix of heart healthy nuts is well balanced with nutritious pumpkin seeds, flavour-filled cranberries, and topped with Greek yogurt chips to help support healthy digestion. Remember to breathe and enjoy one of the most nutritionally beneficial snacks we offer. Wholesome Yogi will leave you feeling like you’ve just woken from a long, deep savasana. Namaste!”
This mix is another one of my faves. It’s got the nuts and pumpkin seeds for crunch, the dried cranberries for a good chew and the yogurt chips for fun (bonus: they’re good for your gut!). This would be delicious mixed in oatmeal or sprinkled on top of yogurt.
C’mon Cinnamon: “You don’t need to be a cinna-maniac to enjoy this delicious mix. For those who love the sassy spice, prepare to have your socks knocked off. This nutty medley is long on flavour with just the right amount of salty and sweet roasted in. Cashews give you an extended energy boost and help support the immune system, almonds help us build strong bones, and pecans are heart healthy. C’mon Cinnamon, let’s get spicey!”
I love cashews, almonds and pecans but it’s a little heavy handed on the cinnamon for my liking. I sent these with my hubby to take to work. The man can go all day without eating a thing and then snacks all night. It’s not healthy!
Goji Granola: “A whole lot of heart and a huge bunch of health goes into every delicious batch of Goji Granola. This snack’s impressive list of certified organic ingredients are as great tasting as they are good for you. Eat it up however you’d like – straight from the bag, sprinkled on your yogurt, or add some milk and dive into a bowl. Whichever way you choose to enjoy it, be prepared to fall in love with 100% granola goodness!”
Oh em gee this granola! So good! Takes like oatmeal cookies without anywhere near the sugar — just 6 grams per portion — and none of the guilt.
Laid Back Snacks makes healthy snacking easy with so many delicious and nutritious varieties to enjoy at home or on the go. I love how you can customize your subscription to suit your needs, not only in the type and quantity of snacks, but also how often you’d like to receive them. Compostable packaging would be wonderful too, and maybe that’s something they’re working on. I can’t wait to sample next month’s delivery!
