Little Life Box Review Spring 2021

Little Life Box is a seasonal subscription box from Canada. It gives you the opportunity to sample and experience new vegan, health conscious and mostly organic products in a convenient and fun way that saves you money. You receive, every 3 months, around 8 to 12 products (mostly full size), a lot of them coming from Canadian companies.

Little Life Box kindly sent me their Spring box to review. At first glance, I could see there were a lot of different items for this new season. I love to discover so many new products at such a great value. It is an excellent way to try new things for an interesting price.

If you want to try it out, you can choose between two options: subscribe for one season at a time at $45 per season (you can cancel anytime) or pay $160 annually ($40/season) so you will receive one box every 3 months. Shipping is free for both options! I would greatly recommend the annual option since you cannot be disappointed with LLB and that makes you save $20.

I like it when there is a list (detailed or not) of what is in the box. This one is simple, but it gives all the information we need and makes the global value of the box easier to see without having to search every item online. I love the design and the fact that it is in English on one side and French on the other. This month, the value of the box is double the price of the subscription.

Superfood Facial Cleanser – Dr Botanicals

I had the opportunity to try the Hydrating Mask and the Rescue Butter from Dr Botanicals and loved them both a lot. Both are used only occasionally, but a cleanser is such an essential as it is used everyday, I am always pleased to find one in a subscription box. This one can be used for daily cleaning and to remove makeup.

I read that “using this cleanser will help to break down daily grime that’s sitting on the face and work to balance your natural sebum protection. The antioxidants in Watermelon Seed Oil slow the aging process, protect against free radicals, promote elasticity, and repair skin via healthy nutrition for the skin.” I did not know that watermelon seed oil was that amazing for the skin. I will most definitely use that cleanser once I finish my current bottle.

Shimmering Body Glaze – Made by Madrigal (MBM)

“Nourishing shea butter, olive squalene and argan oils blended with alluring essential oils pineapple, coconut and kiwi.”

This is a body oil with a wow effect. I tried it on my hands and arms and loved how it looked. You can put some anywhere on your skin to add some bling. I thought it would have a bronzer effect, but it is simply illuminating and of course, sparkly. With a mix of pineapple, coconut and kiwi essential oils, I would have guessed it to have a strong scent, but it is very subtle and pleasant.

Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt – Galerie au Chocolat

Dark chocolate is one of my péché mignon. I love a good quality bar made with a few quality ingredients. This one is from Galerie au Chocolat, a company based in Quebec that molds fair trade cocoa and other ingredients mostly sourced in Canada like cream, butter and maple syrup. The timing is perfect to get some chocolate as Easter is near and there is plenty to share with my loved ones.

Reusable Bamboo Utensils – Ola Bamboo

“Bamboo is the best material to replace plastic items of everyday use. It is renewable, natural, strong, durable, and biodegradable. Bamboo has natural antibacterial properties and is grown without the use of chemicals.”

Ola Bamboo makes quality items for your home like toothbrushes, makeup remover pads, and even super cute kid’s plates. From their collection, there is also bamboo utensils, which is what I received. In a previous box, there were bamboo straws that I used often for my smoothies. I tend to prefer those as they do not get extra cold like the stainless steel one. These bamboo utensils will be perfect for my kid’s lunches and for picnics next Summer.

Mineral Face Sunscreen – Thinksport

It feels like Winter went by so quickly this year and it might feel like this because I have not been outside as much since we are locked inside our home to work all week long. Spring is now officially here, and we can see more grass than snow and my hammock is ready to use. The sun is getting warmer, and my pale skin is very prone to sunburn. This item in this season’s box is an excellent idea. This one has the particularity of being tinted like a foundation, so you do not look white like a ghost after application. I tried it on my pale complexion and it blended very well. It has a non-oily feeling and smells like a tropical drink. Makes me want to take some vacations.

Bamboo Makeup Brush – Urban Spa

Bamboo is quite the trend and I am not surprised to find a second item made with this material. It is a blush brush made of bamboo and vegan bristles for a soft blending. With no one who really cares at home if I have makeup or not, my current makeup brushes are not getting used often. So, I cannot say that I need a new one, but I might eventually, or I could simply give it to a friend.

Lip Balm – Flexitol

If you have not applied a good amount of lip balm last winter and now have chapped lips as a result, you will be happy to find this product. It does not look very natural, but the promises of healed lips in one day is tempting when you have a hard time getting your hydration back.

Sour Cherry Cranberry Snack – Patience Fruit Co.

These are so yummy. These sour cranberries are a new product from Patience Fruit Co, a company from Quebec (Canada) that I like a lot. If you are a cranberry enthusiast, you will love this new snack and even if you are not, I dare you to try them. The flavour I received is “Sour Peach”, but there is also Strawberry and Cherry. They will remind you of your favourite candies but made of nutritious cranberries. A 60 g bag only contains 8 g of sugar, 28 g of fibre and as a total of 160 calories. It is delicious, and one bag can easily make 2 or 3 servings. No need for a candy when you have such a healthy option.

Chocolate Chia Cookies – More Cookies

“MORE Fibre Cookies are soft, slightly chewy, perfectly sweet and packed with hearth-healthy fibre and ingredients like chia, quinoa, blueberries and more. Each cookie has up to 28% of your daily fibre! Oh, and they’re also delicious. It’s the cookie you keep in the cupboard when you want MORE – minus the guilt.”

That is exactly what my mind says when I have a cookie: “More cookies”. I have little control over myself when I start to indulge my sweet tooth, so I prefer to skip buying cookies. These could make the exception though. They could make a good snack as well as a dessert. Since they are peanut free, they could also make an excellent school snack for the kids.

Metavo Mix (sample)

“Metavo is an avocado-based dietary supplement that rebalances your metabolism. Metavo is the only dietary supplement on the market with AvoB™, a powerful bioactive found only in avocados that targets the underlying cause of dysfunctional metabolism. Metavo also works to maintain normal blood sugar levels.”

This supplement looks interesting, but I am not personally convinced. My metabolism is alright, so I do not feel the need to add this kind of product in my daily regime. Since it targets glucose metabolism, it would probably be best for someone with diabetes.

Little Life Box Spring 2021 Review – Final Thoughts

I had a lot of fun unboxing the Spring box. There were a lot of new products to discover from brands often seen in Little Life Box, but that I am never tired of receiving. The new Sour cranberries from Patience fruit & co were a nice surprise. Also in the snack area, the healthy cookies from MORE cookie were delicious and the dark chocolat an excellent idea. Even if I might not use every item in the upcoming month, there are plenty that will be put to good use soon like the watermelon cleanser and the utensils from Ola Bamboo. There is a good mix of items for this season for selfcare, nourishment, beauty, etc. Another beautiful box from Little Life Box.
