Little Life Box Review Winter 2019
Little Life Box is a seasonal subscription box from Canada full of vegan products. It gives you the opportunity to sample and experience new vegan, health conscious and mostly organic products in a convenient and fun way that saves you money. You find around 8 to 12 products (mostly full size), a lot coming from Canadian companies.
This month’s Little Life Box is very heavy. I was eager to see what Little Life Box had in store for us. They kindly sent me their Winter box to review (it is their third seasonal box since they switched from the monthly box to a seasonal one).
Since a couple of months, you have two options to subscribe: Pay $45 per season (you can cancel anytime) or pay $160 annually ($40/season) for four boxes shipped quarterly. Shipping is now free for both options! I would greatly recommend the annual option since you cannot be disappointed with LLB and that makes you save $20.
The value of the box is 3 to 4 times the amount you pay, like this month, one of the items is worth $63, so no worries, you will get a large number of healthy products for a fraction of the price. I have received many boxes from this company in the past years and have always been pleased by all the items.
The products come in this nice box and are carefully covered with colored silk paper. Last season, the silk paper was pale orange (perfect for Autumn) and this season, the dark purple makes it look classy and sophisticated, just like a nice party dress. I cannot wait to show you what I received. Let’s start with the self care and beauty products…
Eyeshadow Collection Athena from Laritzy Cosmetics
“Inspired by the daughter of Zeus, the goddess of wisdom and courage, this collection features sandy nudes and fiery warm hues can enhance the goddess in you. From peachy, playful sun-kissed look to bold, earthy creations, the ATHENA palette features 4 rich, matte shades and 5 satin, shimmer shades that will surely become your go-to makeup.”
This eyeshadow palette is truly amazing. I am not a makeup artist, but I do wear makeup almost everyday and like to play with different tones and work with quality products. I looked at Laritzy’s website and found many suggestions of color match and how to apply these beauties. I will have fun with the more fancy look for Christmas parties coming and with the more classic ones when I get back to my office.
Beauty Oil Blend from Opagee
This beauty oil looks promising. I am happy to discover thisCanadian brand from British Columbia. Two or three drops is all you need to nourish your skin. The oil gets absorbed quickly and leaves the skin super smooth. I love that it is made of natural ingredients and works well with sensitive skins (I am in that lot). It is said to improve fine lines, wrinkles and the look of scars. I might try this product on other places…
Exfoliating Gloves from Urban Spa
“Put your skin in the best hands-yours. Simply slip these beauties on for dry exfoliating before you shower, or wet with soap in the shower. Either way, used daily they will improve circulation and leave your skin tingling, smooth and polished.”
Who does not want super smooth and glowing skin? A good exfoliation is so important in your routine and it takes only a few minutes, and this type of glove makes it even easier. It happens I already own this exact same pair and have been using them for a few months now and it is still my favorite option when I want to gently exfoliate my skin.
French Mild Bar Soap from South of France Natural Body Care
“The fresh citrus scent of sparkling lemon verbena, grapefruit zest and bergamot is infused with blooming jasmine, tender muguet, and white musk, evoking the sensory image of fresh lemon trees growing amid a cluster of verbena plants.”
Here we have a travel size soap from South of France. The smell of lemon verbena is subtle and pleasant, and I can totally see myself in a relaxing bath with this nice aroma.
Charcoal Detox Bubble Mask from 7th Heaven
“With a fusion of star anise and purifying oxygen in our charcoal infused sheet mask, when exposed to the air, it begins to bubble and foam, digging deep into pores removing dirt and excess oil.”
I love bubbly masks! Gives you a strange look, but the bubbles not only make your face clean, it also has a relaxing effect like a bubble bath. I received two different masks from the same company in a previous box and liked them a lot. I am sure I will enjoy these two as much.
Stay Lit Incense Sticks – Meditation from Reverse Karma
“Each incense sets a silent timer where you can take time to meditate, read a book, cook dinner, dance around the house, creating or whatever you choose to do.”
I have not lit even one yet but I already know I will want more of these. They all have a specific aroma (jasmine, lavender, watermelon…) and are associated with a word (Example: the blue stick is Accept and the scent is Jasmine).
During your relaxing moment or meditation, Reverse Karma recommends to choose one word, an intention to focus on. Then you pair your intention with the different words that are associated with each color of the chakras. Such a good idea to bring good and positive intentions into your life.
Over EZ Pill
“Over EZ is the next generation alcohol aid that’s engineered to prevent hangovers before you get them. For best results, simply take 1 or 2 Over EZ capsules 15 minutes before, or with your first drink.”
Fuel EZ Pill
“Fuel EZ helps you be more productive and alert. Get 3-5 hours of clean energy with your new daily energy supplement. Take 1-2 capsules in the early afternoon or whenever you need an energy boost.”
I am not familiar with these types of pills, but I read excellent reviews for both and I like that they are filled with natural ingredients. I do not think I will use the “Over” one since I almost never drink (one drink sipped in 2 hours is the best I can do), but I know a few people who would be happy to try it. And the Fuel pill could be useful after a rough night when the kids have been sick (not a coffee drinker here, I could use a little help sometimes).
Maple Almond Butter from Justin’s
This almond butter is nothing less than the company owners’ favourite. With 3g of fiber, 6g of protein and only 4 g of sugar per portion, which makes it perfect for your morning toast. Being Canadian, maple sugar is my go-to sugar when baking so paired with almond butter it can only be divine. I would have preferred a jar so that it creates less waste, but I am very happy to try this new product. I do not eat very sweet in the morning, but toast covered with this almond butter will make a delicious and satisfying dessert for me.
Coconut Chips from Hungry Buddha
“These Smokin’ Sriracha chips are smoky and bold in flavour with a little bit of spice and all things nice.”
A few healthy snacks are always welcome, and a bag of coconut chips is perfect. I am a little bit worried it might be too spicy for me, but I will be pleased to share with my friends and family during my vacations. Big plus, it is a lot more original to serve then a bag of potato chips and a lot healthier.
Chococrunch Bites from Patience Fruit & Co
“These Chococrunch Bites provide an exceptional taste experience as you enjoy the made-in-heaven combination of 60% dark chocolate, raspberries and our Cranflakes®. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and tart – your new favourite snack!
“Made-in-heaven” is the right word. I love these little crunchy bites so much. All products from Patience Fruit & Co are great, but this line is my favourite. Little Life Box must love this brand from Quebec because I received similar bags in past boxes and it is always a new flavour to discover.
Chai Latté Peanut Brittle from Sweetsmith Candy Co
“With the enticing spices of the Middle East, our Chai Latté Peanut Brittle brings a unique twist to the classic. Not just for chai lovers; this cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, peppercorn, and cardamom blend is usually able to satisfy the most discerning of taste buds.”
Sweet! Perfect to indulge during the holidays. I already have a plan for this one: Me and my family, a blanket or two, a Christmas movie and this Chai latté peanut brittle shared between the four of us.
Woods Wild Bar – Ginger Coconut
“Contains a unique blend of triterpenes and polysaccharides that are antiviral, antibacterial and help reduce the spread of harmful pathogens. Helps protect the liver and aides in overall detoxification. Helps lower blood pressure. Similar to chaga, reishi also helps stimulate autophagy to eliminate cancerous cells.”
This bar looks quite amazing and I am very curious to taste the ginger coconut flavour. I do not think I ever saw a similar flavour for a bar. I am not on a ketogenic diet, but this bar is perfect as a keto snack since it is low in carbs (1g of sugar) and high in fat. I like my snack to be low in sugar, so it is perfect for me and there’s also 4g of fiber and 10g of protein.
Holiday Spice Latte from Organic Traditions
“Wind down after a cold winter day and cozy up next to the fire with this delicious holiday blend. Simply blend 1.5 tbsp of our latte mix with warm water for an instant creamy taste of the holidays.”
This spice latte had to be in the winter box! So perfect for the holidays (or any other day just to feel like it is Christmas again). I love this brand, they have many awesome products. Going to put my pyjamas on and sip a cup like right now.
Little Life Box Winter 2019 Review – Final Thoughts
I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to review this amazing box. Little Life Box created a box filled with useful, yummy and healthy products that I will use daily. I have a big crush for the Laritzy eyeshadow palette and I will have a lot of fun playing with the different shades. Also, the incense sticks for meditation will be perfect for the first weeks of 2020 while I reflect on my intentions for the next year. If you are looking for the best health conscious Canadian subscription box, Little Life Box is the one to get (this box alone is worth four times the price of the subscription!).
This is my last review for 2019. I wish you a happy holiday with your family and friends, just enough parties and lots of time to relax. See you in 2020 with more reviews.
