Here’s a closer look at the items I received for the month of September….
Included in every box is a little black booklet detailing all of the products selected each month. You’ll get in-depth descriptions, instructions (in English, of course) and upcoming news!
While there is no specific theme, the month of September includes products aimed at keeping your face and skin smooth, well moisturized, and looking good!
Mermaid Brush
I remember a little while ago when mermaid brushes were all the rage. I’m not sure who made the original mermaid brushes, but these look very similar! The mermaid tail brush comes in several different colors and designs, and I received the bronze tail. The bristles are in a compact dome shape and made of a synthetic material. The shape of the brush makes me think it’s intended to be a foundation brush, but the bristles feel stiff. It works okay for covering a lot of surface area in a few swift motions, but it’s best to follow up with a sponge or a buffing brush to blend in your base makeup. The mermaid brush also comes with its own protective cap, which is great for traveling!
Country & Steam Facial Oil Pack
I’ve never used a facial oil pack before, so I was very excited about this item! The Honey Oil Pack by Country & Steam features a delicious honey fragrance as well as real honey and 10 different essences and natural oils. This facial pack also incorporates sugar grains to help exfoliate the skin as you massage the pack onto the face. Use on a clean face by massaging the pack onto the skin until the sugar crystals melt. After 5 minutes, wash off the pack and smooth, shiny skin is exposed.
Rilakkuma Eyelash Curler
Two makeup tools in one box?! I’ve been really wanting to try more Japanese beauty tools, so I’m really happy two makeup tools were included this month. The travel-sized and portable eyelash curler features a limited edition Rilakkuma design. Personally, I have a hard time getting these mini eyelash curlers to work on my lashes and this is no exception. However, I’m happy to have this as a emergency/travel curler in my purse. I also like how the replacement rubber comes nested in the bottom of the curler, so it’s never lost!
Rice Mask Pack
Usually, I dislike it when subscription boxes include a single-use sheet mask as a “full size” item, but NoMakeNoLife pleasantly surprised me by including a pack of 10 rice masks! The sheet masks contain oils from Japan grown rice. Rice is supposed to help smooth and brighten up rough skin and this mask does just that. It helped provide moisture for my skin and my face appeared balanced and evenly toned.
Angelite U Mascara
Lastly, we have the Angelite U Mascara, which pairs perfectly with last month’s Angelite U Eyeliner! The mascara features an S-shaped wand that makes it easy to apply mascara to the hard-to-reach areas like the inner corner lashes. I love how thin this brush is because it makes precise application effortless. The mascara formula contains little black hair fibers which attach onto my natural lashes giving them extra length and oomph. Plus, it doesn’t flake or make my lashes feel hard or crunchy! This is a great mascara that lengthens and holds a curl well, but it doesn’t give me a lot of volume.
NoMakeNoLife Review September 2018 – Final Thoughts
I’m really impressed and excited about this September’s box because NoMakeNoLife included several makeup tools! Typically the previous boxes feel more skincare based with body and hair care thrown in the mix but this month felt very makeup-centered, which I am here for! I love makeup, so it’s nice to get several items that work together like the eyelash curler and the mascara. There were also two mask-type products this month, but they both differed greatly. One is a 2-in-1 wash-off and exfoliating mask while the other is pack of sheet masks!
I very much enjoyed this month’s box and my favorites are the Angelite U Mascara and the Rice Mask Pack. I’m a huge sheet mask junkie and can’t go a day without using one, so it was nice receiving not just one, but 10!
