Poutbox Review February 2021

Valentine’s Day has come and gone (okay like three weeks ago but it’s COVID times so who can really keep track?) but I still have all the love for February’s Valentine’s-themed Poutbox. The new subscription box is a lippie lover’s dream, delivering full-size, cruelty free boutique- and name-brand lip products each month for “beautiful, plump, hydrated and healthy lips every day.” February’s box is filled with goodies “to give you soft, sumptuous, and kissable lips all month long, and some fun and feminine lip shades for lips that are as unforgettable as you.” *

* They kindly sent us this box for review.

Subscription Details

Poutbox has two subscription options (all prices in USD):

Poutbox: 3 full-size, cruelty free lip products every month for $19.99/month (free US shipping; shipping to Canada is an additional $7.99/month).

Poutbox Plus (the one I’ve got): 6+ full-size, cruelty free lip products and accessories every month for $34.99/month (free US shipping; shipping to Canada is an additional $10.99/month).

Gift boxes with 10+ full-size, cruelty free lip products and accessories are available for $49.99 each (free US shipping; shipping to Canada is an additional $10.99/box).

Each Poutbox Plus includes a product guide with a picture and description of each item as well as the retail price. It’s easy on the eyes both in terms of the design (those bright juicy fruits! them full and luscious lips!) and the size of the print (you won’t have to squint to read it, unlike some similar guides). And I love how it matches the box and the tissue. Just makes me happy.

ILI New York Cosmetics Pouch in Blush

“This month we wanted to include something to help organize your favorite lip products when you’re on the go. This genuine leather cosmetics pouch is perfect for carrying makeup essentials for touch-ups throughout the day and can also be used for cash and cards with RFID-blocking technology. ($29.50)”

This pretty little pouch is so versatile! It fits all of this month’s items with room to spare and has two inside pockets — one of them zippered — for cash or cards or what have you. The colour is right up my alley and I love the zipper pull. (Tassels are my love language, ha ha. Pom poms too.)

Lime Crime Velvetines Liquid Lipstick in Virgo

“Lime Crime’s limited-edition Velvetines long-lasting lip color is richly pigmented for the ultimate statement lip. This formula glides on as a liquid and dries down to a velvety matte finish that lasts for hours. Touch-proof, kiss-proof, and utterly addictive! ($20)”

Matte lipsticks can feel so dry but this one is an exception. So wearable it almost feels like you’re not wearing any at all. I love the colour (maybe even more for spring and summer) and it stays put.

Girlaktic Liquid Lipstick in Iconic

“A color-rich creamy formula that’s weightless on the lips and delivers long-lasting coverage that’s transfer-proof with no cracking or bleeding. Known as one of the original liquid lipsticks, this richly pigmented lip paint in bright and bold “iconic” is perfect for making a statement this Valentine’s Day. ($23)”

Hello gorgeous! This traffic-stopping red is absolutely stunning! Light as a feather too. The brand is new to me but I’ll be looking for it in future boxes.

HAN Skincare Cosmetics Lipgloss in Raspberry Chardonnay

“This all-natural lip gloss is formulated with antioxidant-rich argan and acai oil will hydrate and treat lips with its high Vitamin E content. It’s infused with anti-aging super-fruit extracts and vitamins as well as plant and vegetable pigments to benefit the skin. ($15)”

Another beautiful lippie! This one is more of a true raspberry colour than the lighter pink it looks like here and just a lovely, cheerful hue to wear year-round. Creamier than a traditional gloss. (That’s a good thing.)

NCLA Beauty Babe Balm in Red Roses

“A clean, natural and vegan lip balm that intensely soothes and nourishes lips. Formulated with shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado butter, and coconut oil, Balm Babe leaves lips smooth and hydrated. ($16)”

A light jelly formula rather than a more traditional solid balm, this one feels light and lovely and tints your lips with a hint of pink. (Which is surprising, given the colour.) Very happy to see another product made with all-natural ingredients.

Moroccan Magic Lip Balm in Rose

“The perfect balm to protect sensitive lip skin against the elements. Also, the perfect lip primer and topper when using long-lasting lip colors. Cruelty-free and made in the US with organic argan oil, rose oil, coconut oil, rosemary and vitamin E. ($4.50)”

This balm is fabulous! So smooth and moisturizing. Every time I put it on I smush my lips together at least 20 or 30 times, ha ha. It just feels so good! I get a hint of rose but more dill pickle, which is weird but not off-putting.

February’s Poutbox Plus is valued at $108 and I’m just delighted with it. Lovely formulas, versatile colours and a pretty and perfect-sized pouch to corral them all. The box itself makes a great first impression and every product arrived in pristine condition. No pouting here, just smiles.

What do you think of February’s Poutbox? (You can see January’s here.)
