RawSpiceBar Review October 2016

Have I told you how happy I am to be reviewing RawSpiceBar again? I missed this tiny little envelope of spicy goodness. Spices are my life. I have really come to love them over the last year.

This month’s RawSpiceBar package is titled “Octoberfest Flavor Kit”. Seeing as I love anything to do with the month of October we are off to a good start. I don’t see any pumpkin pie spice in the envelope, so I’m a little sad about that, but I’m sure I will get over it.

Caraway, Fennel & Anise Bread

This is a mixture of caraway seeds, fennel seeds, star anise, coriander, and other spices. I LOVE fennel and coriander so I already know I am going to like this one. The recipe that came with it is Caraway Cheese Soft Pretzels, and since that isn’t vegan friendly so I had to get my research on. I found a recipe on their website for Potato Soup…….all I want is soup right now so that is what I will be making.

Horseradish & Mustard Seeds

This is a mixture of toasted brown mustard seeds, toasted yellow mustard seeds, and horseradish powder. The recipe that came with it is Horseradish & Mustard Cabbage. It doesn’t sound too interesting, and I couldn’t find any alternative recipes on their website, so I will have to come up with something myself.

Schnitzel Spices

This is a mixture of juniper berries, cayenne peppers, bay leaves, and black peppercorn spices. The recipe that came with it is German Chicken Schnitzel. As much as my German side wants to be excited about a schnitzel recipe, my vegan side isn’t. This is another one I will have to find an alternative recipe for.

RawSpiceBar Review October 2016 – Final Thoughts

Even though the spices we received in this month’s package may not be my favourites, I still love this subscription. I was able to find 3 vegan alternative recipes on the RawSpiceBar website (find them in my PINTEREST board) for the Caraway Spice Blend, so I just need to find alternatives for the other two. I also want to point out that anytime I have ever used my RawSpiceBar spices in a recipe, I have ended up loving it. There’s nothing better than a fresh blend of quality spices. They really can make the recipe. Hoping for some pumpkin pie spice in the November box!

XOXO
