They kindly sent us this box for review.

Splendid Spoon is a plant‑based meal program that consists of ready-to‑eat, pre-portioned, calorie‑controlled meals that are made with only whole ingredients. They are a brand built on the idea that just a few small changes can create a lasting impact on your health. They believe in supporting the quest for a simple wellness routine that establishes sustainable habits.

All meals are vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and low in sugar and sodium. Detailed nutritional information for each of the meals is always available on their website. You can customize your weekly order by choosing from their 40+ meal options so you only receive the meals which fit your dietary needs.

Splendid Spoon smoothies are created to satisfy hunger, boost nutritional intake, and kick start metabolism. They are significantly lower in sugar than your standard smoothie, and rich in protein and healthy fats.

Their plant-based soups and grain bowls are filling, ready-to-eat and loaded with veggies. They help boost nutritional intake, and curb afternoon snacking.

They also offer a set of 5 light soups, called their Full-Day Reset, that are designed to reset your digestive system. Three for meals, and two for snacking.

January Box Contents

Each month I’ll share the list of every item that came in the box and will choose a few to give a more in depth review on. This month my week’s worth of meals consisted of:

Here’s a closer look at a few items from this month’s Splendid Spoon box:

Channa Potato Stew

“A bold Eastern chili, fragrant, and packed with flavor. CHICKPEAS- Protect against injury and reduce inflammation, GINGER – Boosts immune system and fights inflammation, CURRY – An immunity superhero.”

The full ingredient list is: water, organic potatoes, onions, chickpeas, extra virgin olive oil, curry powder, tamarind, cilantro, ginger, sea salt, habanero peppers.

I love this stew! It’s one of my faves that I’ve ordered on my own repeatedly. It’s a hearty and super warming stew that’s so comforting for the winter months. It’s definitely got a bit of heat, but certainly not too much for me. It’s nothing that lingers, only that warms your belly. The texture of the stew is great with the chickpeas and potatoes. The potatoes are chopped small and really make it interesting. This one is filling and delicious!

Red Lentil Dal

“The soothing meal mom would make if she still packed your lunch. LENTILS – Regulate blood sugars and boosts digestion, CURRY – An immunity superhero, THYME – Gives you healthier, more resilient skin.”

The full ingredient list is: water, organic carrots, organic celery, red lentils, onions, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil, curry powder, cumin, rosemary, thyme, black pepper.

This is another warm and tasty soup. It has a really mild and well balanced flavor. The spices are all so balanced I can’t really point to which it tastes most like. The texture on this soup is almost a creamy one. Unlike the other lentil based products I’ve tried from them, the lentils are pureed in this one so they create a sort of thick and creamy texture. The diced carrots and celery add interest to the texture and flavor. I like this one when I want something mild and comforting.

Splendid Spoon Review January 2021 – Final Thoughts

I never know what’s going to come in my Splendid Spoon box so it’s always a fun surprise! If you subscribe you can edit and select your meals so you get exactly what you want if you chose, but with this review they surprise me. I will admit, I love getting and reviewing the smoothies, so I missed those this month with only receiving the lunches, but I really like the mix of bowls and noodle bowls they sent this time. A total mix of flavors and textures that really helps keep it interesting. I love having delicious, ready-made, hot meals to heat up quickly for lunch. I can never recommend this subscription enough!
