Sweet Reads Box Review September 2019

No matter what life stage you are at time for yourself seems to get lost in the everyday. Sweet Reads Box is your chance to sit down, relax and enjoy a great read, a decadent sweet and a carefully curated item that ties to your novel. They kindly sent us this box for review.

The other day I was asked to recommend a book subscription box and Sweet Reads Box was one of the first boxes that came to mind. I have been reviewing it for almost a year and I really have fallen in love with it. I like the fact that we receive not only a book, but a mixture of items that complement the book as well. My favourite boxes are of course the ones that include a thriller, but even the other boxes get me excited because they open my mind to new reading experiences. Overall this is one of my favourite subscription boxes.

Subscription Details

When you sign up for a Sweet Reads Box subscription you can choose a one month, three month or six month commitment.

What You Get: Each Sweet Reads Box includes the following….

Here’s a peek at the items we received in the September Sweet Reads Box…..

Crow by Amy Spurway

A friend of ours introduced us to Crow. Right away, the beautiful cover and the promise of a great novel by a Canadian author intrigued us. From the moment we started reading we were hooked. Crow Fortune is unlike any character you have read before. You will be surprised, perhaps shocked but we think you will love her story and her unique perspective on the world. This novel includes a fair share of cursing. While we know not all of our subscribers are fans of swearing, we felt the diction matched the characters.

This month’s book choice is something I never would have picked out for myself. But…..with that being said I love that it is by a Canadian Author and the story line intrigues me.

East Coat Chai Pluck Tea

What better way to celebrate Crow and the East Coast. Tea is featured heavily in this novel. Enjoy a beautiful cup while you read.

I love chai tea but never have it on hand. I was happy to see this in the box as it has been far too long since I enjoyed a cup of chai.

Dark Chocolate Marshmallow Bar Baru Chocolate

A delicious treat with a hint of the coast to pair with the novel. A bit of comfort food for those times you will laugh (and cry) with Crow.

How good does this sound!! I received Sea Salt Caramel which is definitely a fave. Is it weird that the treat is often my favourite part of the box?

PS – I made the mistake of browsing the Baru Chocolate website and I want ALL of the chocolate. They have nutty thins, chocolate hippos and the cutest mugs!

Onion Bag Kikkerland

One of the most unique items we have included in a box, but perfectly fitting for this novel. While the connection is not revealed till near the end – it is pretty great. Plus, this is a fantastic product that your onions will thank you for.

Love the usefulness of this item and I love that we won’t find out how it ties in to the book until the end.

Hand Painted Vase Creative Crop

This vase reminded us of the beautiful pieces you would find at an artisan market in Cape Breton. Something to showcase the last blooms from your garden.

Such a pretty vase. I’m always happy to receive home decor items. It will be a great addition to my new office desk.

All Booked Up Shopping Bag Blue Q

The perfect bookish bag for your next shopping trip. Whether it is to the bookstore or the gym you will love how versatile (and eco-friendly) this bag is.

This is absolutely perfect! I like to bring a few books with me when I travel, am out running errands, etc. This bookish bag will come in very handy.

Sweet Reads Box Review September 2019 – Final Thoughts

Even though I wasn’t drawn to the September Sweet Reads Box book immediately, I feel like it is a book that will grow on me. The story line is intriguing and it will be a nice change from my go-to genre – thrillers. In addition to that we received a really great treat, tea, a bag for my books, a home decor item and a kitchen essential. As I mentioned above, this is one of my favourite book subscription boxes and I absolutely can’t wait for the October box and the Limited Edition Halloween box. I have a really good feeling about both of them.
