Designed by geeks for geeks! Affordable and fun! I’m not going to lie, I’m a bit of a geek at heart. Working for many years at a gaming company will do that to you. I have to admit though, my geek-dom never stretched to that of Harry Potter, to which I apologize for the review of this box, as my knowledge will be limited.
The Theme for this month is in celebration of two great men: one of flesh and blood, and one of fictional origins who has become very real to many of us. One was ‘born’ in the month of January, and the other left this world in the same month, just one year ago. We are talking about Alan Rickman and Severus Snape. Alan Rickman, the actor who portrayed Snape in the Harry Potter film franchise, has said in interviews that author J.K. Rowling let him in on a “tiny, little, left-of-field piece of information” to help him better understand this character. In the days following his passing, J.K. Rowling revealed what that tidbit of information was, in response to a fan’s question:
J.K. Rowling: “I told Alan what lies behind the world ‘always’.”
This above quote is written on the back of the Potions card. The card itself displays a quote from Ssverus Snape: “I don’t expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmery fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses…”
Included also are a couple Geeky Decal stickers…
2017 Magnet Calendar
It seems a couple boxes are taking advantage of the New Year and offering calendars in their boxes! I always appreciate this. This one is a fridge magnate and I love the bright colours and representation of many games, movies and shows to speak to anyones geek within!
Stickers and Magnets
Being a Harry Potter theme the included magnets and stickers are all tributes to the film! I wish I knew more about these to sing their praises, but I am coming up a bit short here. I will tell you I got excited when I saw the Platform 9 3/4, as I have seen the actual platform in London!
The Geeky Decal January 2017 – Final Thoughts
For the price of this box it’s a win win! I can tell that I would definitely love their box if it came up with a theme that was more up my alley. These decals and stickers are perfect for decorating that work space, laptop, binders or lockers! It’s also a great way to feed that inner geek without breaking the bank.
