Here’s a closer look at the Spring 2022 The Literary Book Club….
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
“When an unidentified “monster” threatens international shipping, French oceanographer Pierre Aronnax and his unflappable assistant Conseil join an expedition organized by the US Navy to hunt down and destroy the menace. After months of fruitless searching, they finally grapple with their quarry, but Aronnax, Conseil, and the brash Canadian harpooner Ned Land are thrown overboard in the attack, only to find that the “monster” is actually a futuristic submarine, the Nautilus, commanded by a shadowy, mystical, preternaturally imposing man who calls himself Captain Nemo. Thus begins a journey of 20,000 leagues—nearly 50,000 miles—that will take Captain Nemo, his crew, and these three adventurers on a journey of discovery through undersea forests, coral graveyards, miles-deep trenches, and even the sunken ruins of Atlantis. Jules Verne’s novel of undersea exploration has been captivating readers ever since its first publication in 1870, and Frederick Paul Walter’s reader-friendly, scientifically meticulous translation of this visionary science fiction classic is complete and unabridged down to the smallest substantive detail.”
Swag Bag: We always receive a fun little swag bag which includes things like stickers, a bookmark, bookplate, etc….
8×10 Art Print: Every box includes an art print and it always complements the book. This is a great way to decorate your office, book nook or library. Simply pop it in a frame and switch them around as often as you like. Or frame them all and create a feature wall.
While We Read: First up we have a little treat to enjoy while we read the book, a single serve cocktail mix. This one is made with lemon and real honey simple syrup. You can make it with 2 oz of water, or if you want to make an actual cocktail you can combine with 1.5 oz of Gin and ice.
There was also a little Sweet & Salty bar tucked in there. A beverage and a treat…..the perfect combo!
Page 82: On page 82 we get to open our next gift, a personal library kit. This is such a fun way to keep track of your books, especially if you like to share them with friends.
Page 241: Page 241 brings with it a sea salt and oyster shell dish set. It fits the theme of the book perfectly and is such a fun way to serve salt at your next dinner event. It even comes with a little serving spoon.
Last Page: When the last page has been read we get to open our last gift which is a Marine Life Tote Bag. It’s such a fun design and I love receiving reusable tote bags because I use them for everything! Especially now that some of the grocery stores in our area have banned plastic bags.
The Literary Book Club Review Spring 2022 – Final Thoughts
The Literary Book Club is such a beautiful box and such a unique experience. I love that they focus on the classics and I can’t get over how beautiful the books themselves are. I have almost all of them on display in my office because they are just so pretty to look at. Aside from that, they always do a wonderful job curating the boxes. This one for example has a lovely mixture of items – beverage, snack, tote, adorable little library kit…..etc. I will get use out of all of the products in the box and I can’t wait to read the book.
