Unplugged Book Box Review December 2020
Unplugged Book Box is a monthly book subscription box featuring one hardcover new release Young Adult or new release hardcover or paperback Adult Fiction book (published within 2 months of shipment) + 4 to 6 bookish self-care goodies that help you focus on you. They kindly sent us this box for review.
I had all these great intentions of reading at least a book or two over the holidays but I’m sad to say I’ve only been able to get in one reading session. I’m craving some reading time more than ever right now and am really hoping that January will bring with it some down-time after the holiday craziness and more opportunities to read some of the books I’ve received this past month, including the December Unplugged Book Box selection because it looks like such a good read!

The theme for the December Adult Unplugged Book Box is Solitude.
Here’s a closer look at the December Adult Unplugged Book Box….
Sweeney Todd Kitchen Cleaning Spatula
Mrs. Lovett’s meat pies are the best in London. She was living in solitude until Sweeney Todd came along to Fleet Street to help her with some new, special ingredients to her infamous pies. This kitchen spatula acts as a squeegee to help scrape off food that is caked onto pots and pans. It’s an Unplugged exclusive.
A must-have tool for anyone who loves to bake or spend time in the kitchen. I love that it ties in to the December theme and is also very useful.
Annihilation Candle
Area X is a baffling place in Jeff VanderMeer’s Annihilation. It is a place of solitude where fauna and flora seem to flourish, untouched. This candle was made exclusively for Unplugged by Geeky Girl Scents.
I love that we receive a candle in each box as it’s the perfect complement to our new book. Who doesn’t like the idea of curling up in a cozy chair with a new book in your lap and a candle lit beside you?!
Supernatural Zipper Pouch
The life of hunting evil can be a life of solitude for the Winchester brothers from Supernatural. This zipper pouch was designed by Abby Malaga exclusively for Unplugged.
Another useful, and fun, product. I love that it was made exclusively for Unplugged subscribers and I love the size. Perfect for organizing items in your purse, book bag or computer bag.
The Witcher Pin
Gerald lives a life of solitude while hunting monsters in The Witcher, book series turned show. This pin was designed by Alyesa’s World @alyesasworld on Instagram and is the second in a seasonal series.
Here again we are tying in to the “solitude” theme and it’s also a fun collectible type item. Use it to decorate your book bag…..or denim jacket?
Dark Matter Roller Perfume
Jason from Dark Matter by Blake Crouch lives a scientists-life. He uses his methods in real-life situations, showing the solitude he has experienced. This perfume roller is an Unplugged exclusive by Natural Pure Honest.
Another Unplugged exclusive and a brand I definitely want to check out. I love natural products so I’m really happy to see this one featured in the December box.
Hot Chocolate
Curl up with your book and some yummy hot chocolate.
What December box would be complete without hot chocolate?! Loving this!
The Lady Upstairs
“Jo’s job is blackmailing the most lecherous men in Los Angeles–handsy Hollywood producers, adulterous actors, corrupt cops. Sure, she likes the money she’s making, which comes in handy for the debt she is paying off, but it’s also a chance to take back power for the women of the city. Eager to prove herself to her coworker Lou and their enigmatic boss, known only as the Lady Upstairs, Jo takes on bigger and riskier jobs.
When one of her targets is murdered, both the Lady Upstairs and the LAPD have Jo in their sights. Desperate to escape the consequences of her failed job, she decides to take on just one more sting–bringing down a rising political star. It’s her biggest con yet–and she will do it behind the Lady’s back, freeing both herself and Lou. But Jo soon learns that Lou and the Lady have secrets of their own, and that no woman is safe when there is a life-changing payout on the line.
A delicious debut thriller crackling with wit and an unforgettable feminist voice, The Lady Upstairs is a chilling and endlessly surprising take on female revenge.”
Unplugged Book Box Review December 2020 – Final Thoughts
What a great way to end the year! I can’t even tell you how excited I am to see a thriller featured in the December box. I’m craving a good twisty, action-packed read and this looks like it fits the bill. Unplugged Book Box did a great job with the December box. They picked a great read, stuck to the theme, curated a great selection of bookish goodies and introduced me to a new brand. What more can a girl ask for?!
