Unplugged Book Box Review July 2020

They kindly sent us this box for review.

This month’s Unplugged Book Box is probably my favorite delivery for the month of July. I have been craving some serious reading time but I didn’t want to read just any book. If I was going to make time to read (not an easy task with baby Steven in the picture) the book would need to be one that I REALLY wanted to read, and the July Unplugged Book Box selection is exactly that!

The Swap by Robyn Harding

Low Morrison is not your average teen. You could blame her hippie parents or her looming height or her dreary, isolated hometown on an island in the Pacific Northwest. But whatever the reason, Low just doesn’t fit in—and neither does Freya, an ethereal beauty and once-famous social media influencer who now owns the local pottery studio.

After signing up for a class, Low quickly falls under Freya’s spell. And Freya, buoyed by Low’s adoration, is compelled to share her darkest secrets and deepest desires. Finally, both feel a sense of belonging…that is, until Jamie walks through the studio door. Desperate for a baby, she and her husband have moved to the island hoping that the healthy environment will result in a pregnancy. Freya and Jamie become fast friends, as do their husbands, leaving Low alone once again.

Then one night, after a boozy dinner party, Freya suggests swapping partners. It should have been a harmless fling between consenting adults, one night of debauchery that they would put behind them, but instead, it upends their lives. And provides Low the perfect opportunity to unleash her growing resentment.

Books Are My Jam Sign & Stephen King Bookmark

This wooden sign is handmade by talented, small business Bookish Signs & More. It is perfect to add some decorative spice to your bookshelves – or hang it up to show off your love for books. The Stephen King quote bookmark us also by Bookish Signs & More.

Bookmarks are always appreciated and this sign is awesome. I love the word “jam” and I say it often, lol. So basically this sign is perfect for me.

Crescent City Inspired Candle

Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas follows the life of Bryce Quinian as she learns to cope with loss. She must trust her instincts in working with Hunt Athalar, a fallen angel. This wood wick candle is an Unplugged exclusive by Until the Very End Co.

Candles and books are like peanut butter and jam…..they complement each other perfectly. And how lovely is it to curl up with a good book, light a candle and read the night (or early morning) away?!

The Mist Shower Steamer

Watch out for the mist and all the creatures that come along with it as you shower with this shower steamer made exclusively for Unplugged by Natural Pure Honest. There may be an eerie surprise waiting….

Shower steamers are like bath bombs for those of us who prefer a shower to a bath but don’t want to miss out on the fun bath products…..am I explaining that properly?! Any who….I love shower steamers and use them as often as I can. It’s like a little treat and a great way to spice up your shower routine.

Nevernight Pint Glass

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff follows Mia Corvere, an assassin trying to find a murderer and solve a plot that may threaten everything she loves. This book touches on violence and family and sacrifice while Mia tries to trust herself in her quest of survival. The artwork for this pint glass was designed by the talented Azura. It is an Unplugged Book Box exclusive.

What a great product?! I was surprised to see it in the box, and I appreciate the fact that they took the time to package it in bubble wrap.

Unplugged Book Box Review July 2020 – Final Thoughts

I can’t even tell you how excited I was when I opened the July Unplugged Book Box. This month’s book choice is my favorite to date and it was exactly what I have been looking for…..just what this new Mama needed. Reading time has been non-existent since baby Steven arrived but I realized that I need to start carving out a bit of me-time at least once a week and what better way to spend your much deserved me-time than curled up with a good book. I am already half-way through The Swap and I am absolutely loving it! I would consider it a low-key thrilled. It’s suspenseful without being too over-the-top. I don’t want to put it down and can’t wait to finish it! In addition to that we received some lovely bookish goods. The candle is the prefect complement to my new book and the shower steamer will be a wonderful treat for my next shower. Crossing my fingers that we see more book choices like this in future boxes.
