Here’s a closer look at the items I received this month….

July Theme – City Snacks Pack

Included in every ZenPop box is a mini flyer with details, descriptions, and instructions for each item. ZenPop also makes note of key ingredients used in the snacks or in the manufacturing facilities, which I think is very considerate to those that have food allergies.

Osaka Ramen (Left)

The Osaka Ramen is a collaboration project created by both Sankei Newspaper and Acecook. It’s a pork and onion flavored broth with a mixture of vegetable toppings. The salty and savory broth is taken up an extra notch with the seasoning oil that’s included in the bowl. Definitely very tasty and hearty!

Shio Yakisoba (Right)

Yakisoba is one of my favorite noodle dishes that I always find myself ordering every time I go out to a Japanese restaurant. This particular kind is a shio variety, which is salt based. Unlike typical yakisoba, this one uses only a salty sauce to cover the noodles rather than the usual sweet oyster sauce.

Chocolate Monaka

The Chocolate Monaka is a yummy wafer treat with an aerated chocolate center. The crispy wafers and sweet chocolate made for the perfect midday pick-me-up!

Milk Chocolate Cubie

Sadly, this arrived completely melted in my box, but I assume this chocolate candy comes shaped as cubes. It has a very lightweight texture that instantly melts in your mouth. Plus, the chocolate wasn’t overly sweet or overwhelming!

Ume No Tane Sour Chews

These sour chews feature a sour pickled plum flavor, and yes, they’re very tart! Thankfully, once you pass the initial sour coating, the center is much more sweet and enjoyable.

Hi-Chew Mini

I’ve been a long-time fan of Hi-Chews, but this mini version is much different from the original chewy candy. These miniature ball-shaped candies come in a variety of flavors including ramune, lemon, peach, and grape. The texture is tougher and less taffy-like, but still delicious nonetheless!

Chelsea Butterscotch

If you’re a fan of Werther’s Originals, you will LOVE these! The Chelsea Butterscotch tastes so similar to Werther’s, but this one is just slightly more buttery and sweet. It has an overall taste that’s really smooth and creamy!

Mochi Mugi Sesame Senbei

These crispy bite-sized rice crackers are made with mochi mugi, a type of barley, and black sesame seeds. The flavor was very tasty – it was savory from the black sesame flavor and it contained a hint of soy. I couldn’t have just one!

ZenPop Ramen + Sweets MIX Pack Review July 2019 – Final Thoughts

The July ZenPop Ramen + Sweets MIX Pack was one of the rare months where I enjoyed absolutely everything in the box! The theme this month was City Snacks Pack and ZenPop included popular ramen/noodle dishes as well as delicious classic treats. It’s hard to pick favorites, but I loved the Chocolate Monaka, Chelsea Butterscotch, and Shio Yakisoba the most!
