- By popular member request, we included an herbal book this season: The Backyard Herbal Apothecary, written by Master Herbalist Devon Young. It’s an informative book and a great way to get outdoors, engage your senses, learn about plants, and make some fun healing concoctions.
- Ignite Your Light is such a beautiful, inspirational book and a great way to learn about your energy levels and living in closer harmony with natural Earth rhythms.
- Eat Like a Fish is such a funny and insightful read about a commercial ocean fisherman from Newfoundland who had a vision to create a more sustainable way to save our oceans, our food systems, and farming. If you like memoirs or are interested in the future of food, this is a great read.

Earthlove Spoiler #3: Upcycled SCUBA Necklace with Turquoise Howlite by @goghjewelrydesign
Ever since we first featured Szilvia Gogh’s beautiful zero waste necklace last summer, Earthlovers have been asking (and asking and asking) for another piece from her lovely collection. Designed for Earthlove, this necklace in our upcoming Autumn subscription box is made from O-rings that have been discarded from SCUBA gear. Instead of throwing them in the landfill, Szilvia saves these rings (and other materials) and repurposes them into gorgeous statement pieces to show that even zero waste jewelry can be beautiful. Each necklace is also affixed with a turquoise gem—a symbol of wisdom, tranquility, protection, good fortune, and hope. Since she uses real gemstones and various O-rings, the sizes and shapes will vary, making each piece unique.
About the Maker: Szilvia is a renowned leader in the diver community, inductee into the Women Divers’ Hall of Fame, breast cancer survivor, and founder of Gogh Jewelry. Inspired by artists that upcycle fishing nets into bathing suits and surfboards from ocean trash, Szilvia saw how much waste Scuba diving can generate and decided to repurpose scuba parts into uplifting and inspirational jewelry: “Since SCUBA divers are required to replace many of the consumable pieces of our gear annually to meet safety standards, a lot of rubber, metal, and plastic can end up in landfills. Divers gravitate to the ocean because of our love and passion for nature, so this practice, although necessary for safety, can still be wasteful.
