Amoda Tea Box Review January 2017

Amoda is a health and wellness driven brand connecting you to the power of plants – tea, matcha and superfoods, to help you be the happiest, healthiest version of you. They use ancient principles to create organic teas and matcha blends for modern tastes and lifestyles and curate the tastiest teas into a monthly box for leisurely sipping. Amoda means Joy, Peace & Serenity. They kindly sent us this box for review.

The Original Monthly Tea Box ships for $20 a month and includes a variety of all-natural teas.  The Low Caff box is also $20 a month and ships a variety of natural, caffeine-free or low caffeine teas.

S’MORES – “This tea’s inspiration comes from a much loved North American campfire treat, the S’more.  The flavours hint at graham wafers with a light bisquity note, dark chocolate and a lightly sweet marshmallow.  Luckily, this tea still tastes like tea, so you can enjoy the entire delicious cup without getting overwhelmed.”

Umm… S’More tea?!  Yes please!  I don’t know about you, but I view tea as a way to cheat on foods I don’t normally consume.  I gravitate towards chocolate teas and teas that taste like pie as a way to make myself think I’m actually eating pie without all the calories!  Amoda hit it out of the park with this blend and I can’t wait to try it!

MAKALU CLONAL STFGFOP1 – “A premium black tea grown in Nepal that has natural notes of dark chocolate with wood, sweet honey & walnut undertones.  SFTGFOP1 is the very finest, standing for Super Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe indicating it contains many young golden tips.  Steep a generous 2 teaspoons for full flavour!”

Another chocolate tea!  We are 2 for 2 here.  This is definitely my first “Super Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe”!  Sounds like this tea has a lot to live up to, but I can’t wait to see what it’s all about.  This is what makes this box so great, it gets you out of your comfort zone and makes you try new things.  Normally I would not gravitate towards a pekoe tea, but you had me at dark chocolate and sweet honey!  This one sounds like a keeper.

ALISHAN HIGH MOUNTAIN – “Here’s an organic rare spring tea that we were lucky enough to snag the last of for you.  The grower plants and processes tea based on “tea grower spirits” ensuring the tea contains the real taste of tea, or the “taste of nature”.  The flavour is vegetal, sweet floral with hints of roasted nuts.”

I’m a big tea drinker!  I have a tea shop just walking distance from my house that I can only frequent when I’m willing to spend $40-$60 on tea, as I usually leave there with four or six blends!  Amoda is the perfect way for me to satisfy that new tea craving without breaking the bank.  I’m so impressed with this blend.  I love that Amoda does the work for me in finding the great teas!  Thanks for sourcing this one guys!

AN EVENING WITH EROS – “We couldn’t wait until Valentine’s Day to send you this one.  Floral start to the sip, juicy chocolate covered fruit in the middle and cinnamon finish.  Can you taste the rooibos tea at the base?  It gives a sweet, honeyed, woodsy flavour.  You can get more from us in time for Valentine’s Day :)”

Ok, this is the first one I opened and it was delicious!  Rooibos tea is my favourite and this blend hit all the notes I love about a good rooibos!  I could really smell the floral in the beginning, but the subtle spice is what I loved about it.  I already wish I had more in my cupboard.

Amoda also provides steeping bags in their subscription boxes!  I love this.  I usually use a mesh strainer, but at the office I’m always in need of a steeping bag.  I’ll probably take the remaining teas and the bags to the office for a mini vacation tea break!

Amoda Tea Box Review January 2017 – Final Thoughts

All in all I’m super impressed with this months Amoda!  It was a great variety of tea with something I love and something to push me out of my comfort zone.  Can’t wait to see what’s coming next month!
