Here’s a closer look at the tea we received on the February box…..
White Cap Chai
We love this take on a winter favorite. Just enough of those warming chai spices to add depth without overwhelming the White Peony Tea. A delicate tea with subtle layers of sweet and spice.
I am all about the spicy tea right now, and I don’t mean hot spicy, I mean cinnamon spicy. This first blend definitely appeals to me. I love the sound of cinnamon, cloves and peppercorns. If you haven’t tried a cinnamon tea before, I highly recommend it. This will probably be my favourite of the four this month.
Afterglow
You can’t have a February tea box without a tea for love. In Banff Tea Co’s own words, “A cup of Afterglow will set you aglow for an evening of intimacy”. This is a luxurious, flavourful fruit & floral black tea.
I don’t get as excited about fruit teas as I do about the spicy ones, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to test them out. I love trying all different blends of tea. Since this one is a high caffeine black tea it will be a good one to test out in the morning.
Matcha Bliss
An uplifting blend of cacao, reishi, maca, cinnamon and matcha for mood-boosting and stress support. Gives you a balanced and focused energy. Smooth and creamy with nutty flavours and hints of cacao and cinnamon.
Excuse me while I geek out for a minute and provide you with far too much information……..
- Cacao is a natural mood elevator, high in antioxidants, nutrient dense containing minerals such as magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc.
- Reishi and maca are adaptogens – they adapt to your body’s particular needs to protect against the harmful effects of stress.
- Reishi helps you calm your mind, nourish your spirit and react better to emotional stress.
- Maca is mood-boosting and provides an even and sustained energy boost without caffeine. Maca has been said to act as an aphrodisiac and hormone balancer. We use gelatinized maca, which has been heated to remove the starch content, making it more digestible (perfect for sensitive tummy’s). Although heating does destroy some of its nutrient content, the heating process concentrates the remaining nutrients at the same time.
- Matcha provides an energy boost with no jitters or crash. L-theanine in matcha stimulates the production of alpha waves in the brain leading to increased concentration and that sought after calm alertness.
I am beyond excited about this Matcha blend. I feel like it arrived at the perfect time. I’ve had Matcha many times in the past but really want to make an effort to add it to my diet on a regular basis. Here’s a recipe I found on the Amoda website:
Recipe:
- 2 tsp Matcha Bliss
- 8oz (or 1/2 your mug) of nut milk (we love walnut and almond milk!)
- 4oz (or 1/4 your mug) of hot water
- 2 tsp of cacao or coconut butter
- splash of maple syrup
- Blend for 45 seconds
I feel the need to go whip up a Matcha drink right now. And I think I might need to purchase more of this particular blend from the Amoda website.
Apple Lavender
We fell in love with this herbal tea on first sip. Soothing, sweet and floral with layers and layers of soft flavours. We find that the sweet apple helps curb those after meal sweet cravings.
This is exactly what I need!! I always have, and always will, crave something sweet after a meal. It’s my downfall and my one weakness when it comes to my diet. I consider myself to be extremely healthy, but I can’t seem to kick the chocolate craving I get after lunch and dinner. Therefore, I’m loving the fact that they suggest sipping this tea after a meal to curb the cravings. I can’t wait to give it a try.
Amoda Tea Review February 2018 – Final Thoughts
Ahhhh…..I feel so much better now. It’s amazing what a simple little box of tea can do to lift one’s spirits. Do you feel the same way about tea as I do? It makes me so darn happy. Amoda Tea is an amazing little subscription; if you ask me. I love the simplicity, the pretty packaging and the fact that we receive 4 new tea blends every month. I feel like this is the perfect amount. I have a few tins of tea on my coffee bar, they are my favorites and the ones I drink on a daily basis. I wouldn’t want to give any of those up, which is why I feel like 4 packages of tea is the perfect amount to receive on a monthly basis. It allows me to test out a few new blends while still enjoying my favorites. This month I already know which blend I will love most, but it will be fun to test out the others as well. And, I really love that they included a Matcha blend. I would love to see them do this on a regular basis or maybe even add a Matcha lovers option to their subscription offering. Regardless, I love this subscription and always will.
XOXO
