The holidays really are the best time to get your read on. I spent a lot of time reading over Christmas and New Years, and let me tell you, it was wonderful. I tend to read more in the Winter months because I love the idea of being snuggled up with a good book when it is cold outside. My December Book of the Month arrived late and I’m actually kind of sad because this month’s selection would have been a great holiday read. Not because it has anything to do with the holidays, but because it appears to be a real page turner and I have a feeling I am going to get sucked in quickly. I’m going to need to schedule another mini holiday, or book an entire day off so I can enjoy this one.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

A novel of suspense that explores the complexities of marriage and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement.
You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves.
You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
Assume nothing.

Discover the next blockbuster novel of suspense, and get ready for the read of your life.

Book of the Month Review December 2017 – Final Thoughts

This month’s book selection receives great reviews on GoodReads – 4.2 stars out of 5 to be exact. I had fun reading the reviews because I came across quotes like this “Where to start? This is hands down the twistiest, fastest, funnest-to-read domestic suspense in ages!“. This is the kind of review that gets me really excited to read a book. I sat down with some tea prior to writing this post and got through the first few chapters. I am already intrigued and am really loving the writing style of Hendricks & Pekkman. They set the scene without being too descriptive, and they give you little snippets of back story here and there that really make you want to find out what those snippets actually mean. Here are a few more quotes from the GoodReads reviews:

  • Holy Cow! UN-believable!
  • Chilling and Thrilling! It will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Take notice friends. This is the next best seller.
  • This was a twisty and suspenseful thriller that had my jaw-dropping from start to finish.
  • This is one intense psychological thriller and I can’t believe this is a debut novel.

If those reviews don’t make you want to read this book, I don’t know what will. And that’s just the start, there’s 1,608 reviews in total. People seem to be quite excited about this book. I have a feeling I will be spending the rest of my weekend reading…….and not getting anything else accomplished. I can’t wait.

XOXO
