Elephant Books Review February 2020

Elephant Books is a book club for kids! Books chosen by experts, wrapped and delivered each month. They kindly sent us this box for review.

Baby AYOB is due anytime now…..hopefully in the next week or two…..so I am in full nesting mode. I have the nursery set up and ready to go, the only thing missing is a selection of baby books for our bedtime routine. I love to read, and always have, so I plan on reading to baby as often as I can. This is where Elephant Books comes in….I was so excited to discover a kids book subscription that had options for babies and kids.

Subscription Details

Depending on your Elephant Books subscription, each box contains either 2 picture books (kids ages 2-6) or 3 board books (kids ages 0-2) plus some reading “extras” to help make family reading moments even more special. Every box comes wrapped and tied with a bright orange ribbon.

Here’s a closer look at the Board Book Subscription from Elephant Books…..

Packaging

My very first Elephant Books delivery arrived in an outer brown mailing box. Tucked inside I found my books wrapped in brown paper and tied with a ribbon. This is such a cute feature and makes the unboxing experience that much better.

Your initial package will include the books you ordered, the first reading tip card, and either three bookplates with the board books (for 0-2 years old) or two library cards and envelopes with the picture books (for 2-6 years old).

Bookplates

This is a nice little feature. The bookplates can be adhered to the back of the book and are designed to capture personal book memories.

Mockingbird Song by Carol Thompson

This adorable little board book won the Best Book Award. It’s the Mockingbird song, which is such a cute idea for a baby book. Hush little baby don’t say a word…….

I appreciate books like this because I don’t know the lyrics to the entire song. In addition to that the illustrations are super cute and the size of the book is perfect for little hands.

Sign About Meal Time

I was a little confused by this book at first but then I read the description on the back and it made perfect sense….

All children naturally communicate with gestures, even before they develop the ability to speak. By teaching simple sign language to children from as young as seven months, we can help them to convey their emotions and their needs, as well as giving them a valuable head start in their social and intellectual development.

It has the cutest little images and instructions to help you and baby learn sign language for things like toast, drink, eat, banana, full, hot and don’t like……just to name a few.

Making Tracks

Who’s making tracks? Lift the flap to find out. Tactile die-cut tracks lead us to some exciting discoveries. Perfect for guessing, prediction and memory skills – and simply joining in!

Interactive books were my absolute favorite when I was young. Being able to touch the pages, lift flaps, open pockets…..etc. So I’m tempted to say this is my favorite book of the three we received this month. I love the die cut details as it adds texture to the pages and I love that each page has flap to open.

Elephant Books Review February 2020 – Final Thoughts

For my very first Elephant Books delivery I am impressed. I love the attention to detail, the cute packaging, and the little extras like the bookplate stickers. I was so excited to discover a baby book subscription as reading will be part of my daily routine once baby gets here. I want to have a collection of books for baby and I to choose from, and what better way to create that collection than with a subscription like Elephant Books where I will receive 3 new board books each month from now until baby is 2 and then I can switch it to picture books after that. I’ve made a couple trips to the book store in the mall and let me tell you…..the number of choices is overwhelming. I would much rather have an expert choose the books for me and send them right to my door. So far I am in love!
