GlobeIn Artisan Box Review January 2019

GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring handmade, ethically sourced products from makers around the world. Each Premium Box is curated around a theme (so fun!) and January’s is called The Brew Box.

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

There are two subscription options for the GlobeIn Artisan Box (all prices in USD):

Essential Box ($10 per month): Choose your own products and receive add-on credit to pick your own selection at members-only prices, or receive the surprise item of the month. Shipping in the US is $3/month; shipping to Canada $12/month (your first box ships for free); and international shipping is $15/month.

Premium Box ($40 per month): Each Premium Box is approximately $70 in value and includes 4 to 5 handmade items by artists from around the world. Subscribers can also choose additional products to customize their box. Shipping in the US is $10/month; shipping to Canada $22/month (your first box ships for free); and international shipping is $25/month.

When you open the GlobeIn Artisan Box, the first thing you’ll see is the product guide — a glossy, full-colour booklet with some background on each item like where it’s from, how it was made and how it could be used. It makes a great first impression.

I love learning about the people behind the products and the work that goes into them. These aren’t widgets mass-produced by robots on a factory line — they’re unique goods hand-crafted by real people making a living from their art.

The guide also includes a recipe for a sour cream coffee cake made from ingredients you probably have in the house. I can’t wait to try it!

Handleless Coffee Mug, Tunisia ($15)

The ceramic, hand-painted mug was the first thing I unwrapped and it’s my favourite item in the box. I love the colours and the design, and it’s tall enough that you could use it to hold pencils or toothbrushes or a good amount of push pins or paper clips if you wanted to use it for storage instead of drinking. ‘Tho coffee is really the best use of it, since it comes with…

Ceramic Coffee Dripper, Tunisia ($25)

… a matching coffee dripper! You line the dripper with a paper filter, add coffee grounds and boiling water and the coffee drips through the two holes in the bottom to the mug below.

Isn’t it a gorgeous set? Very hipster. I can totally see my hubby using it. (I don’t like coffee but he has a few cups every day.)

Dark Chocolate Java Drops, Peru ($5)

These dark chocolate-covered fair trade coffee beans from Peru and Mexico are organic and free of GMOs. My hubby likes these but he’ll only have a couple at a time so they’ll last a while. Great for a mid-day pick-me-up.

Barista Milk Frothing Pitcher, India ($20)

I love the colour and size of this pitcher. Beautiful!

Beaded Wooden Coffee Spoon, Kenya ($15)

And lastly, a handsome, handmade coffee spoon inlaid with beads. I like the contrast of materials and colours.

This is my second GlobeIn Artisan Box and we’re two for two! All of the items are beautifully crafted and useful and obviously curated with thought and care. The Brew Box would make a great housewarming, wedding or birthday gift for coffee lovers. I can’t wait to see what next month’s box will bring!
