GLOSSYBOX Review April 2022

“If anyone tells you not to buy makeup, stop talking to them. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life.”

If you missed yesterday’s posts, I’m taking this week to catch up on all of the spring boxes I tucked away while we were prepping to show and sell our home. We’ve lived here for 17 years so it’ll be a big change but it’s all good. I can’t wait to settle in and get organized! (It’ll be a long project, lol). Most of my cosmetics and skincare are packed in cardboard boxes labelled “rando beauty” which feels like a sin but hopefully by the end of the summer I’ll have them all sorted and labelled as they should be. Speaking of beauty products, on to GLOSSYBOX! It’s a subscription from the US that delivers five deluxe or full-size products every month for $21 USD and each box is valued at $75 or more. April’s box is long sold out but today’s post should give you an idea of what you can expect to see if you decide to give it a try.*

*GLOSSYBOX kindly sent us this one for review.

GLOSSYBOX offers four subscription options (all prices in USD):

  • monthly ($21/month, billed monthly)
  • 3 months ($58.50, paid upfront)
  • 6 months ($111, paid upfront)
  • 12 months ($210, paid upfront)

Shipping in the US is free and shipping to Canada is $5/box + any duties and customs fees.

Each GLOSSYBOX usually includes a guide to the contents but it was missing from my April box so I’ve included product descriptions from the brands.

This Works Stress Check Sleep Lotion (full size) · “A restorative, youth-boosting body lotion expertly blended with calming Lavender, Chamomile, and Patchouli essential oils, antioxidant Crambe oil, and moisturizing Shea butter. Massage to melt away bedtime anxiety and deeply moisturize your skin. A lightweight lotion designed to alleviate dry, irritated skin and a stressed mind.”

Packing and prepping the house for sale made my skin really dry so I’ve been using this lotion regularly before bed, only in small amounts because the lavender is pretty potent. (A little lavender is soothing but too much and I can’t sleep.) It’s not as moisturizing as some other creams I’ve tried but I do like a lighter lotion. Feels good on the feet too.

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum (deluxe size) · “Take the first step to radiance and achieve youthful-looking skin with the new and improved First Care Activating Serum. The luxurious formula hydrates, nourishes, and visibly firms, while boosting absorption of subsequent products applied on top.”

Personal grooming went out the window prepping the house on such a tight schedule and I don’t feel like I’ve used this serum enough to give it a fair review. Same for the next two products, sadly. But please let me know if you’ve tried them. Would you recommend?

NEOLASTIN Revitalize & Firm Eye Cream (deluxe size) · “The most effective solution for your circles, bags, wrinkles, and other concerns is Neolastin Revitalize & Firm Eye Cream. This rich, firming, award-winning eye cream addresses multiple signs of aging, such as crow’s feet, dark circles, and under-eye puffiness. Its rich nourishing formulation is ideal for restoring a youthful glow and healthy appearance to the entire eye area. Winner of the 2021 Global Beauty & Wellness Award for Best Emerging Cosmetic Product.”

LASHFOOD Conditioning Collagen Lash Primer (full size) · “Apply this primer to clean lashes before your regular mascara. Its conditioning formula promotes lash vitality whilst INSTANTLY improving the look of natural lashes by separating and boosting volume for a soft fluttery false-lash look!”

Kitsch Satin Sleep Scrunchies – Blush (deluxe size; three scrunchies) · “KITSCH Sleep Scrunchies are your newest nighttime necessity! Their satin construction won’t crimp or agitate your strands while you sleep, allowing you to wake up frizz-free and ready to take on the day! Banish breakage and conquer creases with these chic day to night no-brainers.”

My teen and I trade scrunchies back and forth and here we’ve got a pair and a spare. 🙌 I don’t really care about crimping since I have my hair up or in a braid most days but I do care about breakage and wear one just about every night for sleeping. They’re gentle and they stay put. And cute as a button too!

Laritzy Cosmetics Gel Liner (Truffle) · “Our Gel Liner is a sharpenable crayon that delivers intense colour for a long-lasting, pigment-rich appearance. The creamy texture won’t tug or drag while lining making the formula perfect for outlining or filling in the desired area. It applies quickly and precisely for a feather-free look that dries down to transfer-proof color.”

I haven’t worn makeup in a month but I did try this liner with a dark brown mascara and it made my eyes pop without looking too harsh or overdone. And no tugging either. This liner is literally easy on the eyes. It’s available in 10 colours including some fun ones like powder pink, scarlet red and deep berry.

While I haven’t had the chance to try all of April’s products as much as I’d like, I still think GLOSSYBOX is one of the best beauty buys on the market. $21! Can you believe?

Looking forward to sharing May’s box with you very soon.
