GLOSSYBOX Review December 2019

Sometimes as a kid when I visited my dad he’d give me money to go to the corner store across the street and pick out a treat. I often went with the sure bets — Twizzlers, Bottlecaps, maybe some sour keys or Swedish fish, and other times I’d buy one of those surprise bags that came with mixed candy and a little toy or two. Naturally there was a risk you’d get something you didn’t like, but that was part of the thrill. Just like subscription boxes. Some are a bigger gamble, but GLOSSYBOX is a pretty safe bet. Every month it delivers five deluxe or full-size beauty products from around the world ranging from trendy to high-end. For $21 USD you get about $60 in value.

*They kindly sent us this box for review

GLOSSYBOX offers four subscription options (all prices in USD):

  • monthly ($21/month, billed monthly)
  • 3-month ($58.50, paid upfront)
  • 6-month ($111, paid upfront)
  • 12-month ($210, paid upfront)

Shipping in the US is free; shipping to Canada is $5/box + any duties and customs fees.

Subscribers can complete a beauty profile to help ensure the box matches their needs.

Like November’s box, December’s GLOSSYBOX was missing the product card. You can find it on the Glossybox site so I wouldn’t say it’s a huge deal (I’ve included excerpts from that below) but certainly not convenient. The box also included the same discounts as November’s box: one for $100 off a case of Naked Wines priced at $160 or more (good for US customers only) and a $80 gift card for new Hello Fresh customers (applicable in Canada and the US).

Golden Gatsby 3D Faux Mink Lashes

“Channel your inner 20s girl with these luxurious lashes. Imagine your perfect lashes each designed with a unique pattern and watch them come to life. ($12)”

I recently received a pair of lashes in another box and haven’t tried them yet so it’ll be a while before I get to these. Where am I going to wear them? To the grocery store? Spin class? Swiss Chalet? They may be a bit much. 😂 Plus I’m afraid I’m going to lose a couple of my own lashes taking them off. Do you wear false lashes? Tell me all your secrets!

REALHER Ultimate Glow Getter Cheek Trio

“This all-in-one cheek trio sculpts and enhances your best features with a talc and paraben free formula. With three simple steps to contour or bronze, blush and highlight your complexion. The blush delivers vibrant yet natural-looking cheek color that looks flawless. The bronzer creates a natural-looking finish, blends, and builds easily to your desired level of color and definition. The highlighter creates a customized, lit-from-within glow. ($28)”

This palette is a perfect match for my complexion. I may go easy on the bronzer in the winter when I’m pasty white.

Steve Laurant Lip Tint (Cherry)

“Our creamy lip tints are hydrating, moisturizing, and long lasting. These are high pigmented and apply easily and glide on smoothly. ($22)”

Love LOVE this lip tint. The colour, the formula, that beautiful rose gold cap. So pretty.

Nailmedic Rejuvenator Nail & Cuticle Energizer

“If your nails are in need of some serious TLC, this reparative oil is just what you need. A delicious blend of vitamins, plant extracts, revitalising eucalyptus and soothing lavender, it gets to work on brittle nails, split cuticles and dry skin. Just massage a few drops into your nail bed and cuticles, for instant hydration and stronger nails! ($7.99)”

My nails always need TLC so I’m excited to see if this makes a difference.

Luxie 211 Rose Gold Concealer Brush

“The perfect brush for applying concealer under the eyes and over blemishes across the face. The Luxie signature Rose Gold brush line features premium soft, synthetic bristles encased in a rose gold ferrule atop a chic pink handle, making them not only functional, but a beautiful addition to your vanity. ($12)”

I’m not overrun with makeup brushes by any means so I was happy to see this one. Perfect for dotting those delicate spots. And I love the colour.

GLOSSYBOX is one of my favourite subscription boxes for the variety of high-quality products, generous sizes and fantastic value. December’s box adds up to $85.99. For $21, it’s hard to beat.

Have you tried GLOSSYBOX? What do you think?
