GLOSSYBOX Review January 2022

Annnnd we’re back. Last week we put an offer on a house so that was exciting! 🙃 And also wildly distracting and I couldn’t get a thing done. Now that things have settled a bit I hope to as well ’cause I have a few really great boxes to share with you. (We were outbid on the house so no more news to share there. 🙁) First is January’s GLOSSYBOX. It’s a beauty box from the US that delivers five deluxe or full-size products every month for $21 USD. Each GLOSSYBOX is valued at $60 or more.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

GLOSSYBOX offers four subscription options (all prices in USD):

  • monthly ($21/month, billed monthly)
  • 3 months ($58.50, paid upfront)
  • 6 months ($111, paid upfront)
  • 12 months ($210, paid upfront)

Shipping in the US is free and shipping to Canada is $5/box + any duties and customs fees.

Normally each box includes a product card but mine didn’t have one so we’ll just get right to the contents. I’ve copied the product descriptions from the GLOSSYBOX site.

Afterspa Black Marble Facial Roller · “Make your serums and face masks work even harder! This facial roller is designed to increase circulation in your skin – perfect if you wake up with puffy eyes! Take a moment to relax and enjoy the cooling sensation as your roll and massage your way around your face; the smaller side fits neatly around your nose and mouth while the large side is great for the cheeks, jawline and neck.”

“Mindful mornings” is the theme of January’s GLOSSYBOX and using a facial roller is a nice step to add to your a.m. beauty routine. I already have a couple of these so I’ll gift this one. Honestly I’ve gifted so many over the years I feel kinda like Oprah: “YOU get a facial roller! And YOU get a facial roller!” 🤣🤣 I’d really like to see an ice roller. Can we make that happen, GLOSSYBOX?

Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Split End Remedy · “Protect and strengthen existing bonds and repair broken ones while instantly sealing split ends for stronger, visibly healthier hair. This formula works on and below the surface of the hair for better and longer-lasting results.”

Blume Daydreamer Super Gentle Face Wash · “A gently and lightweight ultra-hydrating, creamy facial cleanser to help kick start your morning.”

It’s been ages since I got a trim so my hair could definitely use some TLC and this particular face wash is one I’ve wanted to try for many moons. It’s both creamy *and* lightweight just like it says. Made with chamomile, geranium, lavender and giant sea kelp. And the packaging is biodegradable! ✅

Le Mini Macaron Moisturizing Foot Mask · “Lavender-scented and enriched with different leaf oils. Your tired, dry feet will feel relaxed, refreshed and deeply hydrated.”

I got this same mask a few months ago in another beauty box and gave it to my mom for Christmas and she said the lavender was so strong it made her feel sick. 🤢 I expected to feel the same — and yes the scent is potent — but it didn’t bother me in the least. The package contains two serum-slathered socks that you slide your feet into for 15 minutes or so (I had mine on for 45 😂) while you relax. My heels are usually super dry and they felt incredibly smooth afterwards. Highly recommend!

Julep Love Your Bare Face Brightening Cleansing Cloths · “Effectively remove makeup, even waterproof mascara, without tugging or irritating. Gently removes make-up and cleanses skin. Infused with licorice extract to help brighten uneven skin tone. 30 Towelettes. Paraben-Free. Vegan. Cruelty Free. “

Anyone else get Julep’s Maven beauty box back in the day? 🙋‍♀️ I subscribed for a while but didn’t love it and cancelled (it was ended altogether in 2019). I was in it for the nail polish and it wasn’t all that great but these cleansing cloths of theirs are actually quite nice. They remove makeup easily and feel super gentle and the plastic closure keeps them from drying out. The package says no need to rinse but I always follow up with a cleanser just to make sure my skin is really clean.

Codex Beauty Labs Antu Brightening Serum · “Firming and smoothing, this antioxidant-rich facial serum helps to reverse the signs of aging with the special Antu complex – 94% of users agree skin is softer and more supple after using!”

I haven’t used this long enough to notice a difference but *maybe* my skin is brighter? 🤷‍♀️ Hard to tell. Is there a serum you swear by?

Invisibobble Bunstar · “For many of us, throwing our hair into a bun is all part of the morning ritual. This innovative tool from Invisibobble reinvents the bun, no hair ties needed. Wrap your hair into shape, then take the BUNSTAR and simply twist it into the center until it feels secure!”

Love the idea, haven’t quite mastered the execution. I’m after a loose, chic, effortless-looking bun (so different from the tightly wound ones I do to keep my hair off my neck when I’m exercising). Have you tried the bunstar? I use the Invisibobble elastics all the time.

January’s GLOSSYBOX included seven products (usually there’s five or six) so that’s a bonus, and I really like the mix of treats for your hair, skin and feet. The samples of the bond builder, cleanser and serum are pretty small but then you do get the foot mask, facial roller and full-size cleansing cloths (30 in all). If you like experimenting with beauty, hair and skincare, I think it’s well worth the money.
