GLOSSYBOX Review Limited Edition Mother’s Day Box May 2020

Another GLOSSYBOX post coming in hot! This one a special limited edition for Mother’s Day. So how is it different from the regular monthly boxes? Well those typically deliver five deluxe or full-size beauty products for $21 USD that add up to at least $60 in value. The Mother’s Day GLOSSYBOX includes six products for $30 ($35 for non-subscribers) and promises more than $155 in value. Let’s get into it.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review

A limited edition box deserves a limited edition design and the art on this one feels a little more luxe than the usual pale pink monthlies. That said, I actually prefer the simplicity of the pale pink. I think I’ve kept every one of those.

The product card is the same as the ones in the regular boxes — a one-page full-colour fold-out with a brief description of the contents, tips on how to apply them, where to find them, and the retail price. All I really need or want.

Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Priming Leave-In Conditioner

“This lightweight, leave-in conditioning spray detangles and primes hair for styling while providing heat protection and a barrier to humidity and for frizz control and style retention. ($32)”

Years ago when my daughter’s hair was really long and brushing it after the shower was tears tears tears I was gifted a detangling spray/leave-in conditioner that made such a difference. She’s cut it since then and combs conditioner through her hair in the shower so it’s not an issue, but sometimes I have a hard time combing mine out (I have long, fine hair) and have thought of picking up another bottle for myself. I like this one because it’s multi-purpose — a detangling spray that also protects from heat damage and helps keep frizz at bay.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish

“Combating overall skin dullness and signs of aging, this gentle daily exfoliating facial scrub brightens the skin, leaving it softer and renewed after use. ($25)”

I like it! Gentle enough for everyday use and made for sensitive skin.

Lord & Berry Ultimate Lip Liner

“Smudge-proof and easy to use, this waterproof lip liner softens the lips with blendable coverage and flatters every skin tone. ($19)”

Now how can one colour possible flatter every skin tone? I love this colour in a turtleneck, but not on my lips. Gifted this one to my bestie.

3INA The Fixing Spray

“This 3-in-1 product treats the skin with a fine, feather-light mist that primes for makeup application, fixes it in place and keeps it refreshed throughout the day. ($14.50)”

I haven’t been wearing makeup regularly so I can’t really speak to this product’s ability to keep my face in place but the mist is definitely refreshing. Nice to enjoy a cooling spritz here and there, especially now that the weather’s been so warm.

Mademoiselle Provence Ultra Smoothing & Radiance Whipped Balm

“Enriched with rose and peony extracts, let your skin feel refreshed, radiant and nourished with this whipped texture balm that adds a touch of elegance to your whole body. ($19.80)”

Well it sounds wonderful but the scent just wasn’t for me. Didn’t keep this one either.

Bioeffect EGF Serum

“Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, this award-winning serum increases skin thickness and density and restores your skin’s refreshed radiance. ($65)”

I haven’t tried this serum, but it’s definitely something I can use. Since I don’t have much to say about it, here’s an excerpt from Holt Renfrew that sells the 15 ml size (this one is 5 ml) for $220 CAD: “Utilizing the proven power of cellular activator EGF to restore skin’s youthful radiance, the EGF Serum is an internationally-acclaimed anti-aging serum that delivers visible, dramatic improvements. Suitable for all skin types, it reduces the appearance of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles while rejuvenating the complexion for improved skin tone and texture.” Sephora and well.ca carry it too.

The Mother’s Day GLOSSYBOX is valued at $175.30 and well worth the price. If I hadn’t received it to review I would have been thrilled to get it as a gift.

What do you think of the Mother’s Day GLOSSYBOX? Is it something you’d like and/or something you’d gift?
