GLOSSYBOX Review November 2021

“This month, we’re embracing elegant, timeless and sophisticated beauty. Let us tempt you with soft, silk-like textures that caress your skin and make you glow inside our charming ‘Beauty Desires’ edition. Feel beautiful, precious and sexy in your own skin, enhance your inner radiance and give the chilly November days a soft beauty touch.” — GLOSSYBOX

Hello hello! 👋 I hope your week is off to a great start. I’ve got two boxes for you today, this first one a beauty box from the US that delivers five deluxe or full-size products every month for $21 USD. Each GLOSSYBOX is valued at $60 USD or more — often considerably more, as you’ll see in November’s case.*

* They kindly sent us this box for review.

GLOSSYBOX offers four subscription options (all prices in USD):

  • monthly ($21/month, billed monthly)
  • 3 months ($58.50, paid upfront)
  • 6 months ($111, paid upfront)
  • 12 months ($210, paid upfront)

Shipping in the US is free and shipping to Canada is $5/box + any duties and customs fees.

Each GLOSSYBOX opens with a product guide with pictures and brief descriptions of the contents, tips for using them and the retail price. I’ve quoted from it in italics below.

Figs & Rouge Satin Soft Blurring Primer & Finishing Fix — Full Size ($52)

“This primer is designed to fix foundation and finish your complexion for complete matte perfection, its silicone-free, pore-minimizing, and anti-blemish qualities absorb oil so you’ll have a beautiful smooth finish without breakouts.”

I rarely use primer but around the holidays I like to take more care with my makeup so I’ll give this one a try. A smooth finish without breakouts is just what I’m looking for.

Chella Manifest Bronze Eyeshadow Palette — Travel Size ($20)

“The four shades of this palette, Charisma, Radiant, Purpose, and Intention, will transform you into a glam, confident version of yourself. Buildable and highly pigmented, this palette ensures a look that will amplify your inner and outer glow.”

Well I don’t know about those promises but this palette delivers on a number of other fronts so I’ll let it slide. 😉 I have fair skin and find these warm shades are softer and more versatile with my complexion than cooler silvers and greys and I really like the mix of shimmer and matte. And a nice size to tuck in your bag for touch-ups or travel.

Commodity Paper Fragrance — Deluxe Mini ($10)

“Lightweight and effortless, Paper opens with Iso E Super, a unique and woody molecular note. Then, as the minutes pass and the scent comes to life, you’ll begin to notice ethereal skin musk followed by a softly trail of amber.”

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves this time of the year but wearing this light, sunny perfume makes me feel like everything’s going to work out. It’s like a little spritz of happy. It looks like it was discontinued in 2019 but now it’s available again online. One of best products I’ve tried all year! (Maybe I should round them all up in a post? 🤔)

The Beauty Crop Oui Cherie Lip Oil — Full Size ($12)

“Say Bonjour to your new lip obsession! This non-sticky, moisture-rich lip treatment has a pH color-changing formula that works with your unique pH level to give your a custom shade, perfectly suited to your skin tone. It’ll also keep your lips unbelievably soft and nourished.”

Okay I’m going to need a vat of this too. Mine turned my lips into a pretty cherry popsicle colour that looks great with my complexion (IMHO ha ha) and goes with just about everything in my wardrobe. I love the shine but I wouldn’t say it’s the most nourishing — I’ve got a few other lip balms that hydrate my lips much more than this product. It’s still well worth trying, just maybe not for that aspect.

Vitabrid C12 Daily-C Balancing Cleansing Balm — Full Size ($48)

“Infused with plant-derived extracts, this facial cleansing balm helps to effortlessly dissolve stubborn makeup and impurities. It’s formulated with a powerful antioxidant blend of Kahai Oil and proprietary Vitabrid CG (active vitamin C) to help support a clear and radiant complexion.”

Lastly we have this full-size cleansing balm and oh my stars! It’s lovely! Melts away mascara and other makeup residue and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. And I’m obsessed with the scent. Very fresh and spa-like and expensive-smelling. (Have you tried Yon-Ka products? The scent reminds me of those.) I need it in a candle or a room spray!

November’s GLOSSYBOX introduced me to some truly delightful new products I’ll be looking buy again and again. It’s valued at $142. (Amazing! 😲)
