GLOSSYBOX Review September 2022

GLOSSYBOX is a subscription from the US that sends you a box of five deluxe or full-size beauty products every month. It’s a fun and relatively inexpensive way to try a variety of skincare, cosmetics, haircare and beauty tools from all kinds of brands.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

GLOSSYBOX offers four subscription options (all prices in USD):

  • monthly ($21/month, billed monthly)
  • 3 months ($58.50, paid upfront)
  • 6 months ($111, paid upfront)
  • 12 months ($210, paid upfront)

Shipping in the US is free and shipping to Canada is $5/box + any duties and customs fees.

Each GLOSSYBOX includes a product guide. Inside are brief descriptions of the contents and tips on how to use them. It’s designed the look like a magazine but just a bi-fold pamphlet and just the right amount of info.

The theme of September’s box is “Golden Hour” inspired by the hour or so before the sun sets when everything is bathed in a golden glow.

KUESHI Vanilla Shower Gel (full size)“Sometimes the smallest changes can lift our mood, and we absolutely adore a beautiful fragrance, whether it’s perfume, hair products or body care. The rich, warming scent of vanilla coupled with chamomile extract in this shower gel is deliciously calming (but please don’t taste it!).” $6.50

Sweet-scented beauty products aren’t my fave (fruity yes but baked goods no) but delicate botanical notes make this vanilla shower gel less cloying than a lot of similar-scented suds. I wouldn’t use it every day but every now and again, sure. It’s a great size so it should last a while.

VITA LIBERATA Tinted Tanning Mist — Medium (deluxe mini)“We love the quick-drying, tinted formula of this tanning mist, it makes it super easy to see where you’ve applied and control the color. Apply to clean, exfoliated skin and layer up to your desired intensity. Plus it’s enriched with aloe vera and hyaluronic acid to leave your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.” $6.50

I feel like my skin has been looking especially pasty lately — bordering on vampiric even — but this tanning mist gave me some much-needed colour. I spritzed a few spritzes into my hands and rubbed it on my face and neck and saw results within a couple of hours. If you’re pasty like me, start with just a little bit so you don’t overdo it.

KAB COSMETICS Illuminating Dust — Golden House (full size)“The perfect shimming highlighter to keep that Golden Hour glow all night long! KAB’s beautiful, velvety soft formula is designed to illuminate your most gorgeous features. Its rich golden color will flatter dark skin tones, while lighter skin tones may choose to mix with a bronzer or use as eyeshadow.” $26

Ready for your glow up? This highlighter is just beautiful and like the tanning mist, a little goes a long way. I would have loved to see GLOSSYBOX include a giant fluffy brush to apply it with but c’est la vie.

NATURA Murumuru Restoring Hair Mask (deluxe mini)“Prevent breakage and improve shine with this nourishing hair mask. The Murumuru plant is celebrated for its amazing hair benefits, helping to repair damaged strands and recovering hair’s natural elasticity, while reducing frizz and leaving hair soft and glossy.” $5.10

ALPHA-H Firming Eye Cream (full size)“This lightweight eye cream contains Native Australian Lime Pearl AHAs to gently exfoliate and smooth the eye area for a tighter and more youthful look. Plus the illuminating diamond particles create an instant “soft-focus” effect while diminishing the appearance of wrinkles.” $82

I rarely think to use a hair mask (do you use them regularly?) so I haven’t tried this one yet and the eye cream feels wonderful ‘tho I can’t tell if it makes a difference. Maybe over time. ($82!)

September’s GLOSSYBOX is valued at $126.10. Besides the tanning mist and the highlighter I’m not sure how the other three products go with with the “Golden Hour” theme but I still think it’s a great value for $21. If you like sampling a variety of beauty brands and products, GLOSSYBOX is worth a try.
