Ivy Kids Kits October Review 2022

Ivy Kids Kits is a monthly educational subscription box for children ages 3-8. Our goal is to make every moment with your child “quality time.” Have the tools at your fingertips to ensure your child has a solid foundation in math, literacy, and science. Help your child build confidence and be well-rounded in all disciplines to ensure future academic success. The activities in the Ivy Kits have been created by certified early childhood teachers with children of their own. They kindly sent us this box for review.

Each Ivy Kids Kits contains instructions with ways to modify games to best suit each individual child and provide adults with questions to structure a child’s learning. There are enough games and materials in each kit to engage and cognitively stimulate a child throughout the month and can be replayed for years to come. To assure the quality of each kit, each activity has been tested and enjoyed by young children.

Here’s a closer look at the items we received in the October Ivy Kids Kits box….

Building Fences

Included in this activity are small sticks, a glue stick and modeling clay designed to make small fences to cage in all the animals found on the farm, and dinosaurs if you’re my toddler (dinos not included).

Farm Animals

Small farm animal figurines have been included ranging from cows and sheep to geese and horses. These are so fun on their own for some imaginative play and incorporated into many of the other activities.

Animal Stamps & Footprints

Using the farm animal figurines and the modeling clay, my toddler and I spent a lot of time creating indents into the clay with all the different animal shapes and sizes, we also looked at all the different prints the animals make while they walk!

Board Games

Using the animals and the included dice we played a few board games with the board provided. It may have been a little advanced for him, but it will keep and we can pull it out again in the future to play!

Animal Race

The animals also had an opportunity to play animal race on one of the included boards. Somehow my toddler won every round….

Scarecrow Tic-Tac-Toe

The one was so incredibly cute to color and play! I again, seemed unable to win….

Apple Tree

I loved doing this one with my son! Tracing out his little hand and sticking it into the provided cardboard roll was incredibly cute. We also took some inspiration from this one and used the additional tissue paper provided to pack up the box and some toilet paper rolls to make more trees! Having a little forest for the animal figurines was so exciting for him to play with and make.

Red Are The Apples Book from Wade Zahares and Bookmark from Mark Harshman & Cheryl Ryan

Absolutely lovely little book that made such a nice introduction to farm life for my toddler. It is beautifully illustrated and we had fun looking for the little chicken that was on almost every page. The bookmark had great questions about the book!

Scarecrow

Included in the Ivy Kids Kits Box was a fun package to assemble a scarecrow. Ours didn’t look perfect, and the small bird’s eye definitely isn’t centered, but he is proud of it and the scarecrow has now dined with us for several dinners now. Some would say he is now a part of the family.

Build a Barn

Quick little activity that allows for some coloring with crayons that have also been provided and use the animal figurines to come and go from the big red (and a little blue in our case) barn!

Stamper Games

Found in the Ivy Kids Kits box is also some fun paper games and a package of stampers. These were a lot of fun to use and came in a bunch of colors, which we also took time to talk about and even tried to use on our faces as makeup. Don’t worry parents: the stamping ink was washable.

Life Cycles

I tucked this one away to pull out in the Spring, as there is already snow on the ground where we live and nothing is growing outside right now anyway. It will be fun to bring out when we’re in planting season!

Grow Your Own Crops

I also tucked this package away to use in the spring too, I’m so impressed with how this activity is set up. Everything is included, even the dirt! I really hope that we can see something grow from the seeds we were provided with and have an opportunity to watch plants grow on our windowsill.

Seed Sort

This activity is also put away, but I appreciate the opportunity to really point out the differences in each seed and how something so different can grow from seeds that are so small.

Seed Count

While we can only count to ten right now, I think this will also make a great learning activity in the months to come!

Ivy Kids Kits October 2022 – Final Thoughts

Ivy Kids Kits are so wonderful to receive – for both myself and my toddler! Everything you could need to work/play through the activities is included, and no detail is missed. As a stay-at-home-mom, I love how a day’s worth of fun is delivered to my doorstep and I know that we’ll both end up learning something new with each box. I know that I would have loved receiving a box like this as a kid and think it would make an excellent gift. We can’t wait to see what they include in next month’s box!
