You’ll see popular and well-known K-beauty brands featured along with newer beauty brands that are harder to get your hands on in the US. I’m a huge K-beauty lover so I’m super excited to be receiving this box! JoahBox kindly sent me October’s box to review.

Here’s a closer look at the items I received for the month of October….
Included in every box is a mini pamphlet detailing all of the products featured each month. You’ll get in-depth descriptions and instructions (in English, of course)!
Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pad – $12
The box contains 7 single-use pads for the 7 Days Intensive Care system. The pads are soaked in a highly concentrated ampoule consisting of African walnut oil and squalane. They’re super moisturizing on the skin and give it an almost immediate supple and bouncy appearance. My skin always looks much brighter and evenly toned just minutes after letting the ampoule sink in. These pads are so soaked in ampoule that you can apply the excess product to the rest of your body for added moisture and hydration as well!
Dreskin Satin Shadow & Fixer – $13
The Satin Shadow & Fixer is a dual sided product containing a base cream shadow on one end and a liquid eyeshadow on the other. You have the possibility of receiving three different shades and I received Good Night, Copper which is a orange-y copper hue. The base shadow is a neutral beige and very similar to my natural skin tone, though I’m not really a fan since it feels kinda dry. On the other hand, the liquid “fixer” or eyeshadow is stunning. The copper liquid shadow is super saturated with pigment and a little truly goes a long way.
BANO Injection Mask – $3.50
I say this for every beauty box – I’m not really a fan when subscription boxes include a single-use sheet mask as a “full size” item! That being said, I personally love sheet masks, so I never turn them away. This is another variant item, and I received the Baby Face version. The sheet mask was soaked in tons of essence which left my skin feeling plump and evenly toned. I woke up with glowing, hydrated skin the next morning, so I was very pleased with this.
APRILSKIN Madeca Solution Cream – $25
I’m very familiar with APRILSKIN, but have never gotten a chance to try out the brand until now! The Madeca Solution Cream has a non-irritant formula that calms the skin. It has a thick gel-cream consistency that’s easy to apply, but it does create a thicker than usual film on the skin that doesn’t sink in. The purpose of this is to create a physical moisture barrier on the skin that’s meant to protect it. It has a cooling effect once applied and feels very soothing and calming. Because of the film, I wouldn’t wear this during the day, but I like it as a night cream to lock in all of my skincare!
Pony Effect Effective False Eyelashes – $20
I am a major fan of the Korean makeup artist/Youtuber, Pony and have been for a few years now. Her makeup line, Pony Effect, has always been one of my absolute favorites! I’ve tried the majority of her products, but have never gotten a chance to try her false lashes. I didn’t even know Pony Effect had any, so I’m glad JoahBox included these! This is another variant item and I received #Just A Rumor which features fluttery lashes that add volume while still leaning towards the natural side. I love these and can see myself wearing these for almost any occasion whether I’m going out to an event, or just wearing them on a day-to-day basis!
JoahBox Review October 2018 – Final Thoughts
Wow, I think JoahBox might be my favorite K-beauty box yet and I’ve personally have subscribed to several different ones in the past! Because JoahBox is based directly in Korea, they have a means to obtain both popular brands/products, but also items from brands that are more “indie” and not-so mainstream. A lot of these products are hard or impossible to get in America!
Even though I’m a huge K-beauty lover and have tried countless products, JoahBox managed to introduce me to 3 new brands and all of the products they included this month were things I’ve never tried before. There’s just so much to discover in the K-beauty realm and JoahBox makes it more accessible.
October’s box was expertly curated with a nice mix of both makeup and skincare items. There was a total retail value of $73.50 which is more than double the monthly subscription price of $33, so you definitely get a bang for your buck. All in all, I highly recommend this box if you’re interested in Korean beauty and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next month!
