Here’s a closer look at the snacks we received in our October Laid Back Snacks box….
Note: Laid Back Snacks picks out my snacks for me each month so the box is always a surprise.
Cracked Pepper Pistachios
Freshly cracked black pepper is one of life’s great flavours. We’ve added it generously to our delicious sauce, carefully poured that over our perfect pistachios, and then slow roasted the whole lot to give you the best in taste and goodness. Pistachios are chock-full of protein, healthy fats and fibre. They also have a low glycemic index (GI) value, which provides a longer lasting source of fuel than a high carb snack. What a nut!
Ingredients: Pistachios, Lemon zest, Lemon juice, Salt, Sugars (coconut sugar), Black pepper
The Cracked Pepper Pistachios aren’t necessarily my favorite snack from Laid Back Snacks, but it’s mostly because I’m a lazy snacker. I don’t like to work for my snacks, if you know what I mean. But…..once you do crack open the shells you are left with a really yummy pistachio treat.
Orchard Apple Rings
Snack time can often get messy. Our Orchard Apple is the perfectly packaged snack food with no sticky texture, or badly behaved nuts to worry about. Fresh from the orchard, this apple has a soft and comforting chew, which is sometimes a nice change from our more crunchy snacks. Apples are rich in vitamin B, C and antioxidants, and the pectin helps to reduce bad cholesterol. It really is true what they say – an apple a day!
Ingredients: 100% sun-dried apple rings. no sweeteners or sulphites added.
I’m really happy to have received the Orchard Apple Rings in this month’s box because Steven is now at the point where he can eat items like this, and they will be a great car trip snack for him. I’m actually really excited to see if he likes these. I will have to report back!
PB Chocolate Granola
With the huge success of Goji Granola, April went back to the development kitchen to work on her next masterpiece. This peanut butter and chocolate recipe is made with all the love and care of the original formula, with a little added indulgence. Dark chocolate helps lower blood pressure and is a good source of vitamin E. Enjoy more than a dozen organic ingredients that go into making this granola such a healthy snack for your heart and brain!
Ingredients: Oats, Sugars (chocolate chips, cane sugar, banana chips (banana, coconut oil, sugar, banana flavour)), Organic peanut butter, Sunflower oil, Pumpkin seeds, Coconut ribbon, Peanuts, Sunflower seeds, Flaxseed
I find myself reaching for granola more often this time of year. I’m not sure what it is but cooler whether makes me crave comfort food and for some reason granola is one of my comforts. I especially love this one because of the PB & chocolate combo.
Building a strong body starts with good protein, whether you’re a veteran athlete or just hitting the beach weights for the summer. Get the fuel you need for growth through almonds loaded with potassium, protein-rich cashews, high fibre chickpeas, and cranberries with high nutrient and antioxidant content. Yoghurt chips give a smooth finish to your session, no blender required!
Ingredients: cranberries, yogurt chips, almonds, roasted cashews, sea salt chickpeas
Protein Power-Up is one of my all-time favorite snack mixes from Laid Back Snacks, especially this time of year because I LOVE to pair it with the Candy Cane Crush tea from DAVIDsTea. I love it so much that I might even place a separate order and stock up.
Wooster Sure Almonds
Pip pip and tally ho old chap! Worcestershire Sauce was invented in England in the 19th century in Worcestershire England. You may have had it before on your deviled eggs, or in your caesar cocktail. Here ye, here ye — we bring it to you now lovingly roasted on our nutrient-rich almonds. Enjoy all the antioxidant and blood pressure benefits of snacking on almonds, now with the jolly good savoury taste sensation of Worcestershire Sauce. Ta-ra.
Ingredients: Dry roasted almonds, Sugars (cane sugar, molasses), Apple cider vinegar, Expeller pressed canola oil, Sea salt, Tapioca starch, Powder of onion, Powder of garlic, Spices.
Lastly we have the Wooster Sure Almonds which are a great treat when you are craving something salty. I’m even thinking they would be a great snack for entertaining over the holidays. I picture them on a charcuterie board along with cheese, crackers, and dried cranberries.
Laid Back Snacks Review October 2021 – Final Thoughts
I always love my Laid Back Snack deliveries, but even more so this time of year. Does anyone else snack more often when the whether is cool? Let’s take the last few days as an example, it has been cold and rainy here in the Okanagan and all I want to do is read books, drink tea and snack.
Anyways…..if you are anything like me then you will want to get yourself a Laid Back Snacks subscription, at least for the next few months. Cool weather and holiday entertaining = lots of snacking!
