Bamboo Bandages Patch (Melbourne, Australia)
Patch bamboo strips are one of the latest and coolest eco swaps to hit the market. They contain no plastics and no latex, just 100% natural bamboo fibre.
In your box, you’ve received 1 of 3 different kinds to try; either the natural (for everyday protection), aloe (for soothing and to assist with healing) or activated charcoal (to help draw out impurities and infections from minor wounds).
I’ve had my eye on these bandages for quite some time now and have been meaning to purchase a pack or two. So…..I am obviously very happy to see them in the box. I love that they contain no plastics and I love the packaging. I had a peek at their website, as I will probably end up purchasing more, and was happy to discover that they offer a “stocking up bundle” complete with all different sizes and kinds of their eco-friendly bandages.
Handcrafted Calendula & Plantain Healing Salve from Sarah’s Soaps (St. Catharines, Ontario)
Wild foragers are some of our most favourite businesses to support and we have two businesses in this box where ingredients are responsibly sourced by hand from nature. Sarah is a leader in the field of soulfully crafted skincare for all bodies made from nourishing plant-based ingredients; many of them sustainably foraged. Simple ingredients, carefully crafted without animal products, by-products or testing. Every one of Sarah’s products is certified vegan and cruelty-free by PETA.
A carefully crafted blend of reparative plantain leaf, chamomile flowers and calendula petals to aid troubled skin and promote healing. Helps to soothe irritations, rashes, bug bites and protects fresh tattoos. It can be used for all sorts of ailments including scabs, scars, burns, sunburns and dry skin in need of some extra healing.
This is another item I am very happy to see in the box because I’m actually in the process of putting together a few little first aid kits and this will be the perfect addition to one of them. The fact that it will help soothe irritations, rashes, and bug bites makes it the perfect product to keep on hand during the summer months.
Natural Retinol Beauty Oil from Imaya Beauty (Toronto, Ontario)
Imaya Beauty is a Toronto based indie skincare brand that provides 100% natural, non-toxic, anti-aging skincare. Their face oil is one of nature’s best kept secrets for youthful, radiant skin and one of the only, all-natural, non-toxic, Leaping Bunny certified, natural retinol alternatives available.
Imaya Beauty’s Retinoic Face Oil is 100% pure sustainably wild harvested Aguaje oil, one of the richest sources of provitamin A (beta carotene) in the world. Beta carotene is converted to Vitamin A (retinol) when absorbed into the skin, making it a natural retinol alternative. Retinoic Face Oil is a light, fast absorbing oil that can smooth, clear and firm the skin without clogging pores. Studies show that Aguaje oil can reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve skin elasticity, and fade sun spots. It is ideal for all skin types, especially for dry, sensitive or acne-prone skin.
This beautiful face oil has popped up in a couple of my subscription boxes as of late so I’m taking that as a sign to sit up and pay attention. It’s made from an oil I have never heard of before and that intrigues me. It is said to reduce the appearance of fine lines so I will definitely be giving this a try.
Luxurious Lip Butter from Epic Blend (Kelowna, British Columbia)
Epic Blend makes its line of handcrafted, natural health and beauty items in Kelowna, British Columbia. Vegan, cruelty-free, paraben free, phthalate free this ultra-rich vegan-friendly lip butter will protect your pout against the elements. A collection of deeply nourishing ingredients like organic coconut oil, organic sunflower oil and shea butter work to smooth, soften, and hydrate your lips.
So cool to receive a product from a company based in my hometown. I have received products from Epic Blend before and have always been happy with them. This lip balm is something I might tuck in one of the first aid bags I am making, and if not I will definitely add it to my purse.
Upcycled Plant-Based Chutney from Luv the Grub (Vancouver, British Columbia)
Preserves with a purpose, Luv the Grub makes delicious chutneys from upcycled produce. They’re a social and impact driven business located in East Vancouver that also gives back to the community. They partner with local farmers and markets to mitigate all those bumped, bruised but equally delicious fruits and vegetables from entering the landfill, and turn them into delicious, gourmet chutneys and spreads. Plus, each jar provides paid employment and training opportunities for newcomer refugee and immigrant youth through Luv the Grub’s partnerships with non-profits and charities in British Columbia.
In your box you’ll get to experience 1 of their 3 vegan chutney options, either Apple Chai, Blue Berry Sage or Pear Walnut. Enjoy them in so many ways… partnered with crackers or pita, great for dipping, use on your next charcuterie board, use as a marinade or even a simple sandwich spread. It’s all good for you and the planet too.
Eeek! This is so fun!! I absolute love the idea behind upcycled foods and have been meaning to search for brands that specialize in this. Luv the Grub focuses specifically on Chutneys and Spreads and after having a look at their Instagram page I want to try them all! There are so many ways to use their spreads, and they even have recipe ideas for things like sandwiches, pizzas and wraps. Now I am hungry:)
Upcycled Protein Powder Outcast Nutrition (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia)
Outcast is a sustainable food tech company that makes beautiful food out of ugly produce. Outcast works with socially conscious farmers, producers and grocers to create plant-based nutrition for us, the socially conscious consumer. They scoop up the “unsellable” misfit produce that would otherwise end up in a landfill emitting methane gas and we take it to their zero-waste facility where it becomes dried whole food powders. The heads of Outcast Nutrition, Dr. Darren Burke and former NHL forward TJ Galiardi, took their took their love of plant-based diets, their values and convictions to a new level to bring us one of the most sustainable protein powders and nutritional supplements on the planet.
Made with upcycled fruits and vegetables, their vegan protein has a smooth texture, the right amount of sweetness without using added sugar and is packed with vital nutrients. You are getting the non-dairy protein powder of your dreams. In your box you’ll have 1 of 3 different and unique flavours to try either Lemon Meringue Pie, Fruit Explosion or Mint Chocolate Chip.
Another upcycled food product and, just like the chutney, it sounds SO good. I usually have a protein smoothie every day so this is something I very much appreciate receiving. I received Lemon Meringue Pie which will be amazing on it’s own……no need to make an entire smoothie, I will probably just enjoy this with some oat milk.
Fair Trade, Artisan 100% Turkish Cotton Towel/Wrap
Pokoloko brings us this luxurious towel that is handmade for you by independent Turkish artisans. Hull, Quebec based Pokoloko works directly with the artisans and pays them fair wages and plants 2 trees for every item sold. Woven with over 600 hundred years of tradition and history, this ultra-long lasting, multi-purpose, highest quality textile is larger than a regular bath towel and offers over 10 uses – towel, scarf, shawl, for yoga or workouts, for your table, as a swaddle, for fun in the sun and more.
Why is Turkish cotton so great? Turkish cotton has extra-long fibres, making it longer lasting and more durable than regular cotton and even gets better with use. This towel is fast drying and doesn’t need machine drying, bleach or fabric softeners to maintain its luxurious look and feel.
Here we have a beautiful Turkish Towel, which I personally think is the perfect item for a Summer box! Now that we are spending more time outside it will be a great item to keep in the car……used as a blanket at the park, a wrap for cool evenings, a throw for one of the chairs on our deck……so many great uses, and it is SO pretty!
Bamboo Donut Bag Clip
We really, really, REALLY hate food waste? We “do-nut” worry as much when we use this cute clip made from bamboo to keep food fresher longer. There’s one clip is in each box.
If you’ve been with us for a while, you know we love bamboo. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing crops on the planet and is grown without the use of pesticides.
Lastly we have this super cute little bag clip. This is another product I love to see in my eco-friendly boxes because it’s something that will allow me to cut back on the use of plastic in our home. I always have a bag of popcorn in the pantry needing a clip of some sort so I will get a TON of use out of this!
Let’s Go Eco Review Summer 2021 – Final Thoughts
Ok….I want to give a BIG shout out to Let’s Go Eco for curating yet another amazing box! I am absolutely thrilled with the Summer collection and think they did a fabulous job putting everything together. From the theme/inspiration, to the brands themselves, and of course the products. I could literally feel the love that went into this box as I was opening it, and that alone makes me a fan of this subscription. It really is a must-have box, in my personal opinion. And it would also make the best gift:)
