Lip Monthly Review April 2020

Lip Monthly is a subscription service from the US that delivers a variety of full-size lip products + one bonus cosmetic in a reusable pouch every month. Subscriptions start at $12.95 USD/month and each pouch is valued at $50+. April’s just arrived so let’s get to it! *

*They kindly sent us April’s pouch for review.

Lip Monthly offers four subscriptions (all prices in USD and all products full-sized):

  • Monthly subscription: $12.95 for 4 products/month
  • Lip Monthly Plus: $19.95 for 7 products/month
  • 3-Month subscription: $38.85 for 4 products/month
  • Annual subscription: $155.40 for 4 products/month

Shipping is free in the US; $3.99 to Canada and the UK; and $4.99 to Australia.

Subscribers get a mixed bag of products every month so mine may be different than the next person’s. It also explains why the product card is a welcome message rather than a description of the contents. I’ve looked up each item and included descriptions and prices from the brands.

This month Lip Monthly has done away with the usual zippered pouch in place of a wee muslin bag, which you can see in a photo at the end of this post. The pouches were handy but not the best quality so the swap doesn’t bother me, but I would have liked to see the change mentioned on the product card. Some might see it as a drop in value.

Naked Cosmetics Eyeshadow (Mother Nature #6)

“Naked Cosmetics is the purest, most natural make-up that exists. Naked Pigments are 100% oxidized Mica, and do not contain talc, oil, wax or other fillers that can be harmful to your skin. It is 100% color to give you a pure product that is non-allergenic, non-perishable, and simply beautiful. ($14.99)”

I had some trouble opening this one and when I finally got the lid off I spilled quite a bit. But there’s still plenty there. It’s gorgeous for a smokey eye and I appreciate the all-natural formula.

Laritzy Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick (Thrill)

“A cult-favourite, matte liquid lipstick that instantly delivers long-lasting and intense pigment. This lipstick was formulated to be effortless, non-drying and water resistant so it won’t disappear after an hour. Each shade will adapt to you, so they’ll appear a bit different and look great on everyone. Go ahead, swipe it on. ($20)”

Well it sounds wonderful but I don’t like the colour so I gifted it to my bestie. Have you tried this brand?

Noyah Organic Vanilla Lip Balm

“Not a synthetic balm! Our USDA Certified Organic balm is made in the USA with only 5 ingredients, and a 70% PCR tube — better for you and the planet. Not only will your lips get all of the feel-good moisture they need, you’ll feel good knowing you’re using a product that’s friendlier to your body and the planet. ($3.99)”

I’m happy to see another people- and planet-friendly product but sadly, vanilla isn’t my jam so I gifted this one too. What are your favourite lip balms? Are you a vanilla fan?

Bellapierre Cosmetics Glitzy It Up Matte to Glitter Lip Creme (Posh)

“Liquid lipstick goes from drab to fab with these matte to glitter lip cremes. With a press of the lips, these lip cremes go from simple matte to stunning shimmer. Unique, long-lasting formula allows for a comfortable, glittery lip that stays in place for hours! ($20)”

And we end on a high note with this be-U-tee-ful lippie that’s exactly what it says. I love the colour, the shimmer and the stay-put formula. Perfect for spring and summer!

April’s Lip Monthly is valued at $58.98. Not one of my favourites in that I only liked two of the four products but I do love the Bellapierre lippie, and that’s worth the cost alone. If I was paying for it myself, I think I’d see if a friend wanted to go in on a subscription with me and hope we’d each find products we like. It’s relatively inexpensive as subscription boxes go but over time it adds up, you know?

What do you think of April’s Lip Monthly? Are you a subscriber? If not, would you try it?
