Lookfantastic Beauty Box Review July 2020

Lookfantastic Beauty Box is a UK subscription box that delivers six premium beauty and skin care products for £15.00 or about $26 CAD/month. July’s Sunkissed Edition “has everything you need to be lit-from-within.”*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

There are four subscription options for Lookfantastic Beauty Box (all prices in CAD; there’s also a Canadian Lookfantastic site):

It’s odd there’s no price break for the 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions, no? Canadian subscribers pay approximately $12 shipping for the first box and subsequent boxes ship free.

Lookfantastic Beauty Box has swapped out its product guide with a welcome card for the time being. Subscribers can access the guide online.

Nuxe Paris Exfoliating + Unifying Mask (Rose and Macadamia)

“Combines the benefits of rose floral water with macadamia oil and a natural-origin fine exfoliating powder to exfoliate and even out the skin in just two minutes. Skin texture is instantly smoother and the complexion is brighter.” ($20.04/50 ml)

I’m not sure why they call this a mask since it acts like a scrub. It’s gentle, not overly fragrant and my pale pallor did look rosier after using it.

Sleek MakeUp Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream (French Fancy)

“A matte finish liquid lipstick that glides on in one smooth application, with no need for a second coat. The light as air texture provides you with comfortable wear for hours, that does not cake, flake or dry out, ensuring long lasting colour all day.” ($10.50)

Sleek makes great eyeshadow palettes and I really like their lippies too. This colour is beautiful and great for my skin tone. Perfect for the fleeting days of summer but I’ll wear it year-round. Stays put.

Erno Laszlo Multi-Task Eye Serum Mask

“Revive tired, weary eyes with a saturated eye mask infused with a cocktail of powerful ingredients to tackle signs of aging and fatigue around the delicate eye area. Targeting dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles, the silky, serum-infused eye mask acts as an effective delivery system for its blend of beneficial ingredients, including Algae extract, Vitamin B3, Amino Acids and Allantoin. Restoring a youthful look back into skin, the eye mask helps to firm the appearance of skin, brighten dark spots and discoloration, and calm sensitive, irritated complexions.” ($7.75)

I’ve tucked this mask away for another day. Maybe I’ll do a before and after in my Instagram stories and you can tell me if you see a difference.

Le Couvent Des Minimes Aqua Sacrae Soap

“Refresh and revitalise skin with Le Couvent des Minimes Aqua Sacrae Botanical Soap, a cleansing formula infused with an uplifting scent. Effortlessly melting away dirt, excess oil and impurities whilst providing deep hydration below the skin surface, the soap uses a floral fragrance of jasmine and tuberose to boost the mood and stimulate the senses. Expect silky-soft and reinvigorated results.” ($8.72)

This soap reminds me of floral-scented drawers liners, which I don’t particularly like. But the art on the packaging is beautiful! Gifting this one.

Balance Me Vitamin C Repair Serum

“Our award winning brightening serum reduces pigmentation and uneven skin tone while boosting elasticity, refining lines and texture. With stabilised bio actives and skin lightening boerhavia diffusa for maximum efficacy with zero irritation.” ($19.19/10ml)

Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse Boost Multi-Correction Cream

“This correcting cream with an antioxidant complex containing jasmine flower helps to combat the harmful effects of everyday life (stress, fatigue, pollution, etc.) while respecting your skin’s natural balance. Day after day, skin appears fresher and more radiant, and the first signs of ageing are faded. It’s light texture with a matte finish is ideal for normal to combination skin.” ($18/15 ml)

My skin concerns are age spots, dark circles, skin tags, sagging, acne and a little rosacea (so just a few things ha ha), some of which these two products promise to address. We shall see. Balance Me makes a face mist I received in another box and loved (one of my all-time favourite beauty products!) so I have especially high hopes for the serum.

So Eco Konjac Sponge (Charcoal)

“The perfect cleaner which can be used on both the face and body. The sponge helps to eliminate any dirt or leftover makeup, helping to keep the skin exfoliated. Ideal for those with oily, spot-prone skin. With added charcoal, the sponge works to leave skin feeling revitalised after use.” ($9.77)

I received the same sponge in another box and it’s really nice. Very gentle, almost like a buffer instead of an exfoliator. And formulated for acne-prone skin, which is perfect for me. Some subscribers received a makeup brush instead of the sponge.

July’s Lookfantastic Beauty Box is valued at approximately $93.97. This box was all skincare apart from the lipstick (lipstick/lip cream/potato/potahto) and I would have preferred to see another cosmetic or two instead. That said, the products are well-matched to my skin concerns and from well-recognized and well-reviewed brands. It’s a good value for the price but I’m a little underwhelmed and I can’t quite figure out why.

Have you tried Lookfantastic Beauty Box? What do you think of this one? What are your skin concerns?
