Look Fantastic Beauty Box Review May 2020

Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a UK subscription box that delivers six premium beauty and skin care products for £15.00 or about $26 CAD/month. May’s edition has a botanical theme. “Focusing on the power of plants, this month’s box is full of gentle, effective products that are free from toxins and are sure to brighten up your beauty collection.”*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

There are four subscription options for Look Fantastic Beauty Box (all prices in CAD):

Shipping to Canada starts at about $7/box. Shipping in the UK is free.

Each Look Fantastic Beauty Box includes a 20-page mini magazine with details on that month’s products, interviews with beauty insiders and primers on ingredients found in cosmetics and skincare. It’s easy to digest and I always learn something.

Balance Me Hyaluronic Plumping Mist

“Award-winning, skin quenching, brightening and incredibly hydrating, the facial mist instantly rejuvenates dry skin. Designed to replace a toner in your skincare routine, fix makeup in place and refresh your face throughout the day.” ($17.02)

I loved this mist so much it didn’t even last me a week. #gonetoosoon It’s supposed to plump out fine lines and wrinkles with regular use and I feel like it made the lines around my mouth look softer. And so refreshing! The scent reminded me of the Yonka products my mom used religiously in my tweens and teens. Smells clean, natural, fresh and expensive ha ha. Lookfantastic Canada has it in the 30 ml size (this one’s 10 ml) for $25.20 and I’m really tempted to order more but the $12 delivery charge is stopping me in my tracks. Shipping is free for orders over $80 but I only want to spend $25. Le sigh.

Magnitone London Wipe Out Eco Friendly Microfibre Cleansing Cloth

“Let this cleansing cloth remove your makeup with just warm water! Grab and hold microfibres remove even the toughest of makeup — simply throw in the washing machine at 30 degrees and reuse up to thousands of times.” $17.02

I have a couple of these now which is great since I don’t want to have to keep washing just one all the time. They’re super soft and effective and much less wasteful than typical remover wipes.

Dr Lipp 100% Natural Moisturising Colour Lip Tint in Sweet Potato

“Get a subtle pop of colour and ultra-hydration with this lip tint; a tinted balm made with just four natural ingredients. Lanolin gives the balm its moisturizing properties, whilst sweet potatoes provide the tint. 100% natural and cruelty-free, this balm will leave your lips super soft.” ($5.11)

While it does make my lips feel moisturized, I’m disappointed by the how subtle the colour is. Just the slightest hint of pink. I mean so slight you can barely make it out.

Eyeko Mini Eyebrow Gel

“The brow gels tames unruly eyebrows and provides long-lasting hold without flakiness or stiffness. Infused with beneficial ingredients, including keratin and gingko bilabo, to condition and thicken the hairs. The nano-brush allows you to precisely define your brows, but keeps them looking natural.” ($17.02)

And the colour in this one isn’t subtle enough. Apparently it’s a soft brown but on my light blonde brows it looks almost black. Really too dark for my hair and skin tone. That said, I’d be happy to try a clear one. It did make my eyebrows look groomed and a little bit fuller.

Avant Ultimate Hyaluronic Acid Resurfacing Duo Moisturizer

“Get a bright and smooth complexion with the help of this rich, anti-ageing moisturizer. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, shea butter and sweet almond oils to tighten and firm for a more youthful complexion.” ($170.23)

Rich moisturizers aren’t my bag so I’m going to pass this on to my mom, who will be more than happy to try it.

Korres Hydra-Biome Probiotic Superdose Face Mask

“Suitable for all skin types, but especially great for sensitive skin, this Korres face mask soothes, hydrates and cools for the ultimate pampering and nourishing feel.” ($16)

This face mask is so soothing and hydrating, especially if your skin feels a little tight after some time in the sun. Really lovely.

May’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box is valued at $242.40, which is incredible given the price. That said, I’m really only excited about three of the products, which add up to just $50.04. So maybe not incredible for me personally, but the things I do like I really enjoy. That makes May’s botanical box well worth the price to me. And it’s wonderful to try natural and/or cleaner beauty products, which I think we’ll see more and more as the market continues to grow.
